I totally agree there's a big issue. The lack of proper club notifications on the app (no alert for new notes or forum, no alert for announcements either) clearly doesn't help.
Inactive Players !!!
Depends on how you police these communication methods. Getting notifications for 30 "Hi's" a day is not a good thing.

I am more focused on announcements and upcoming event notifications ,not notes and forums.
Allowing players to disable all of the different ways possible to interact with them ( announcement, notes, forums, upcoming events ,etc..) is one of the main reasons of inactivity in clubs. Some players have no idea at all about what is happening in their clubs especially those who don’t really use the website .
In my opinion players should not be able to disallow upcoming event notifications and announcements.
This will likely lead to many people leaving the clubs that they don't interact with much (if at all), and activity, in my guess, will be centered around the largest and most active communities of clubs.
The question being: why would you join a club if you don't want to interact with it?
In my opinion, it's just normal at this point. I am in a whole lot of them, and I would guess right now that at the very least, 50% of the clubs I am in I have never interacted once (meaning even a single comment in notes or forums, or participation in any event, etc.) with. At least 80% I am no longer active in anymore (this includes the 50% that I have not once interacted with). If people see something they like, obviously they stay, but I think the majority of users couldn't care less about leaving it if they didn't find anything appealing to them.
The key is targeting the audience that is actually interested. For clubs, I would say if you can keep 1 in 10 people in your club active in it, that is ideal.

This sounds right. I'm TRULY active in only three of the thirty-seven clubs of which I'm a member.
While I do agree that inactivity is a problem, I think that the much bigger problem is club administration spamming invites and getting anyone and everyone willing to join their club instead of seeking quality club members.

Sometimes it's hard to know exactly who will be quality members until they're members though.

That wouldn't really be a problem that staff can fix, and brute forcing the system (sending out as many invites as possible) will probably get you 1 active user from every 15-20 people that joined via invites, which isn't bad.

I agree with this. At least if only, force announcement notifications on.
I totally agree. What is the point of joining a club and then blocking every means of contact with the club.
When someone joins one of my clubs, I send them a welcome message. If they only accept messages from friends, I remove them from the club.
I find it unacceptable that notifications of club activities can be blocked.

I can understand for notes and forums since we have a lot of kids spamming around right now. However, for announcements and upcoming events notifications it does not help at all.
I agree!
And I also want to return the old tournament alert instead of this new one (3 minutes before the tournament starts, members are notified instead of 1 hour like before
)
