Hi Yury - have you seen some details, how those matches will work. It will impact the decision, if we would like to join. Especially my worry is how the game start times will be setup.
Intercity Blitz Team Tournament - Discussion
Another possible issue is will those matches be available in some archive or not. Current live tournaments results within clubs can not be found afterwards, so it is difficult to organize some huge competition
I don't know any details, just some promise.
I'm not worried by the time as long as most teams are from Europe.
This sounds good. A good example for the organisation and rules of such event is for instance the Team4545League that operate under Internet Chess Club (ICC). They even have their own web page, constitution, penalty system and appointed tourney directors...
Of course we would not need to get into such a level of sophistication. I guess one of the main difference will be the size of the teams, as they have a maximum of 6 players per team, and each match has 4 boards.
An important aspect is for each players to decide when they are going to play. Team4545 allocates a certain timespan when the game must be started (a week which includes a full week-end to give more chance to players from different time zones - usually Americas and Europe but can also be India, Australia, etc.- to meet and play). With larger teams, a round can take longer to be done as more players have to agree of a time, so a longer timescale such as a fortnight might be a good idea. Of course intercities match have slightly different issues because all the players from a team are eligibly (but not systematic) on the same time zone. So it is just a time zone difference the two teams.
The point raised by Phoenix_Scorpion might be more tricky, but it may depend on the facilities provided by chess.com for this sort of matchs.
If there will be this type of tournament, we (Budapest) would like to be in. Time is in fact a good question, although there are mostly European teams. When in Moscow the people arrive home from the work - let say at 5 PM - , in London the people are tyred enough at 8 PM (or they are in a pub, I don't know ;-)). So not easy, but not impossible of course. (I can imagine e.g. the teams - London, Moscow - have to play two matches, one at 5 and one at 8, and not obviously with the same players.
Also if we have no idea about the structure, about the procedure, then it's hard to say something... Will see... I hope soon...

We are still fixing final bugs on club v club live matches. Hopefully this week we will be done!
I suggest playing some test matches at the week-end.
Who else can test the functionality in our stead?!
I can ask my team but I have tried to setup Live tournaments and from 8 we had twice participation of 4players and 6times tourney was not started. But lets try two matches and we will see. On the other hand I camt promise how many playersjoins.
Friday 9pm CET
