My goal is to reach 1500 in 2025 at both blitz and rapid!

Hello my name is Magnus Clouston (yes I am actually a Magnus C) and I learnt to play chess at the age of 7 but then I lost interest after not being able to beat my father. Then three years later my grandfather got me back into it. I created a chess.com account and played a couple games before losing interest. I got back into it about a month ago, and I am now twelve. In that month I’ve played hundreds of games, got my rapid and bullet up a bit before becoming an exclusive blitz and bullet player.

My play style is inconsistent ranging from brilliants to blunders. Because of this I have been gaining elo very slowly and I am sitting at 550 in blitz.

My goal is 1000 blitz elo by the end of 2025. I gain Elo very slowly and I don’t think it will be easy but I am going to try.

I have read Graham Burgesses book, ‘the mammoth book of chess’ and I have built a bit of an opening repertoire.

I'm a 30-year-old health professional that's recently gotten into chess only two months ago. I've always known how to play but never really realized how deep chess really was. This sparked my interest and I've been super deep into it ever since. I'm looking to get a title by 2030 but for the time being, my short term goal is to get to 1000 and then to get more over the board experience. I'd love to find more people to chat to about it with or to train with.

Hey guys! I'm Reed, I'm from the United States and I am currently 17 yo and a high school junior. My rating is 710 in blitz and 640 n rapid and 650 in bullet, but my goal is to get to 1200 next year. I only started playing chess a couple months ago, in late June. I think I can improve quickly and succeed!

Hello everyone, I'm a 16 years old student from Indonesia. I've learned chess for around 1 year. I'm hoping to get 1800 rapid rating or more next year. I'm also want to join some local or National tournament next year.

Heya I'm Derrick from the states or USA for people that don't know. I haven't played a USCF tournament in a few months but my highest rating was around 900 and I just started those kinds of tournaments. I have more wins than losses in it but ever since I joined my highschool chess club, I felt like I had much more potential in over-the-board games. I feel like there is some things I don't get yet that I don't even know how to improve so when I figure that out I will work my hardest to do that. My rapid rating is 1502 but my bullet is 1601 and I would like to try to get my rapid rating to 1800 by the end of 2025. I know I most likely need to work on positional play as I have almost no clue on how to make a plan or even figure out what my opponent's plans are. I'm ok at tactics as I know simple checks, captures, and attacks and I know patterns and such so if my opponent tries to be sneaky then I know how to spot it. Sometimes though I don't know how to stop it, even if there is a good way to stop it, so I guess I also need to get better at defending. Anyways this is my story and goals for 2025 and am excited to improve will all of you guys!

Hi I'm Jeremy and I am just looking to improve my chess game! I am currently a band director and have always loved the game of chess, but have never really been good at it! One of my goals through this is to get enough confidence to try a tournament for the first time. I have band kids who play chess and have never done a tournament before but would like to and hopefully I can be of some help to them also! l met 3 friend which is top 3 in my school. 2 of them has taught me king's indian and sicilian Nadjorf. l loved this opening

<800: DON'T BLUNDER

800-1200: focus on 1 opening with white and 2 for black. (d4/e4). Necessary to put the knights in the center. Bishops love to be fiancettoed.Use pawn breaks when position is closed

Hello. I never thought that I would really like to play chess. My brother taught me when I was younger and would always beat me. But I had someone get me back into the game and I enjoy playing. First thing are the puzzles then play my opponents. I have also been reading and trying to study more. I think that I really need to look more before I make my move. With me it’s a slow process, I just want to keep playing to improve.

Youre going to do great, my advice is to set your goals higher. I reached 1700 in my first year of playing ~2022, So its definitely possible for you!

On the topic of middle games; i suggest watching video lectures about influential GM's (I.E. Kaidanov, Fischer, Spassky, ETC) Ben finegold has a long lecture series.

I picked up Chess in November 2024 and initially I had zero clue, i played some games, played some bots and further cemented that I have no clue. I then began to study parts or I'd spend time watching someone else play on chess.com and I'd try guess their move (currently I have days where I'm not too bad and others where I am totally misunderstood the game)

My goals are more beginner related:

1) To become consistent at applying chess principals (and to not catch myself deviating off this path!)

2) I would like to look at a game and be able to understanding who's got the better position and have more knowledge to understand what my opponents plans may be.

3) To learn how to analyse my own games before having a computer do it

4) To learn a couple openings with the understanding of why each move is made, and what my opponent may play.

5) To understand how to form plans / create an attack on opponents King

6) Learn how to win basic endgames

Maybe that is way too many goals to keep it within the SMART goal making outlines but perhaps I will take on one of these a month and then practice for that month etc.

Played chess very casually for a long time, but never tried to progress ratings etc. My goal is to just get generally better, be able to visualise the game and board with consistency and be able to confidently plan and implement openings with conviction. A bump in rating and be able to hold onto it would be fantastic

Hello im Archer and just a young tween. i started a couple years ago but i took lots of breaks. Then i decided to come back and actually play without a break. im rated 650 in rapid and 550 in blitz. i hope to be a 1000 at the end of the year.

I’m MysTrysT and I play chess casually. I’ve never been good at it, but I think it’s pretty fun to play. I’m trying to teach my mom a little bit but I don’t have many (if any) openings in my repertoire. I’m hoping to reach an intermediate level of understanding, maybe around 1100-1300 classical/rapid. I’m a bit slow so I’m aiming a bit lower for blitz.
