Irritating display of forum posts in Firefox

Admittedly, this is a small point related to forum post display in a specific browser, Firefox. But it is irritating if you experience it again and again. So perhaps there is a solution.

The normal way forum posts (e.g. the first post of the thread https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/scope-of-editor-for-posting-contributions) are displayed is like this:

null

If you are the author of a post, and you hover above the post's scope, the header of the post changes so that editing options ("Edit", "Delete") become available (red arrows in the screenshots):

null

The change in the header is fine, of course. However, at the same time the wrapping of the first paragraph changes (blue arrows in the screenshots). This is irritating and most probably unintended.

This happens in Firefox. It's not an issue in Chrome or Edge. (Curiously, in Chrome the first paragraph is always wrapped as in the first screenshot, in Edge always as in the second screenshot. Only Firefox toggles.) Perhaps there is a simple solution (slightly smaller icons?) that avoids this irritating feature in Firefox?

It has been like that for a while. I know erik is aware of it (I messaged him about after it came up in a forum topic) but don't know if it's something that will be fixed.

Your post has to have enough content to line wrap at least once for that to really be noticeable.

Did you just copy past the "testing" when you edited your post? Because your edit doesn't have the issue in the OP but post 1 and my first one does. I looked at the source and there is a &nbsp (non-breaking space) in between each "testing" so copying and pasting is likely why (where the EOL nbsp gets added on each paste).

You need a paragraph with a full first line and spaces between words that allow the line to be wrapped. Just copy the text of this note (#9) and you get the effect Martin and I are talking about.

Strangely enough, this re-wrapping of the first line does not happen with notes in groups, even though they have almost the same layout and also toggle between date and the "Delete" icon when you (as the author) hover above them.

Apparently, you copied more than the pure text of the note. Your note #11 is obviously different from my #9.

that's what happened

When I copy the text from your #15 in my #17, I again get the display error described in #1. So indeed, perhaps it depends on the individual circumstances.

Just to confirm: You use Firefox 57 under Windows 10?
