i advice you this blog for calculation
How to Calculate
You can't always improve just by playing. There's people on chess.com with tens of thousands of games who just never improve because they don't analyze their games and look for mistakes. They just move on impulse because they don't think about anything other than what they're used to.
If you don't know what to think about on your turn, you might want to take a look at the Lessons section and learn some basic strategic concepts; also try to learn a simple opening you can play every game, but you are right that studying deep opening theory is not the best use of your time.
I was introduced to chess when i was 11 years old. I only learned how to play and played few games. But later never got much chance to play or learn. After many years, i played chess only after joining Chess.com in 2023.
Previously i used to quit as soon as i lost my Queen, but after playing on Chess.com many things changed, I continued to play even after loosing queen and won few games without queen, i learned about Castling, tactics and few other things here. I enjoy learning through practice than studying so i preferred playing games and solving puzzles more.
I don't know about the names of openings that i play, In my games i can only think of what my opponents next step would be, i never thought beyond that. Out of impulse i make my moves very quickly i never take time, i want to change that.
In Rapid my highest rating is 922, Most of the time it's in range of 600 - 800. I want to master this game and cross 1000, 1500 , 2000 etc step by step. Please suggest me how i can achieve this.
900 is a decent rating and you could elevate it to 1500 or 1600 in a year by studying various lines of openings and bunch of tactics and experience of atleast 2000 games to reach around 1200+
1. learn the basic principle about opening
2. Learn middle game tactics like fork, skewer ,overloading removing the defender sacrifices etc
3. Do learn king pawn , king bishop pawn , king knight bishops ending textbook ones it's very important you recognize endgame pattern
4. Woodpecker method puzzle solving should be done it has helped me a lot.
How do I improve my calculations? because every time I play a game I make a move quickly and blunder. Any advice?
