W.r.t. the Angel: A King protected by an Angel cannot be incheck or mate. It's totally self-explaining. It should be the same with MM.

I think white is still lost in that position, that witch is crushing.

Nc7 looks like it does the job, opens a discovery on the metamorph. White does have Wd2 to bring in another defender, but it's the queen, and obviously black is happy to trade his rook and bishop for the metamorph and queen.

I trust that is true, but not really the point

You can't post "it's unclear if white is lost" and think I won't try to solve it!

Fair enough. I forgot the about the angel for a second. It makes sense that they correspond. Fixing now

Thank you. A King protected against capture but still in check, I would have found that an awkward inconsistency.

Nice summary.

tug, I'll make a game for us tomorrow. If we play with the metamorph, then I'll pass on a chameleon game until we finish.

It seems kinda OP ngl, but I don't play bulldog much. Only definite complaint is the piece sprite looks like a pawn with a large head xD

The sprite has been used for both my pieces- the chameleon and now metamorph. Does anybody know what it is actually supposed to be? surprise.png

Well, THe metamorph can actually be used in rated games, major diffence

I like the sound of this piece, I do think perhaps it might need some nerfs but gameplay will show whether or not that is truly needed.

Yeah I'm glad of this too. One game is enough. We can come back to the chameleon later if we feel like it.

I think is good, but why would anyone use norma from?

2 reasons I thought of:

1) A normal form metamorph possessed by a spirit is stronger than a attack form metamorph.

2) Say your metamoprh is in attack form and you need to stall a turn. You choose normal form over defense form to retain some mobility

You could do it where you can't transform from attack to defense directly. You have to pass by normal first. That would give normal strength and add some tactical nuances. It also makes sense narratively because the change from attack to defense is the most extreme so it's sensible that it takes one turn to dissarm and then one turn to defend (or vice versa).

Very cool piece. If any two players want to play a test game I can mod.

Also, Marks, (or anyone) are piece graphics available (for both White and Black, each on light and dark squares)? And with three forms that means 2x2x3=12 graphical icons.

I like James' suggestion. It makes the piece a little more tactical.

I like this. This will be the rules going forward so normal form isn't obsolete. It also nerfs the piece a little bit as Auk suggested.
