Notes or Chat

Anyone tell me the specific uses of notes and chat, and which one is better to use in club's homepage? pros and cons for each?

Notes notifies you, but chat doesn't. Probably notes is better for a homepage.

No! The best thing about Chat is that you do not notifiy the entire club when someone says "Hi".

Notes are mini announcements which require notification sending to members but not important enough to write a formal announcement.
Chat does not send notification.
Many users here do not like chess clubs which heavily chat in notes. 
Just take 'notes' as a piece of paper on refrigerator; you wouldn't chat using that, would only write important stuff that others need to know.
