Pieces

Any recommendations for some nice weighted plastic chess pieces that will work with the Pegasus please? Black and white but I'm open to other colours. I'm in the UK.

What does the king weigh please?

These pieces (the Marshall Library set) have a King weight of 0.8 oz (22 g).

I quite like the Pegasus pieces but it's nice to have a change.

Is the Marshall set nice to play with. Heavier than the Pegasus set?

The Marshall King is slightly heavier

Marshall 0.8 oz (22g)

Pegasus 0.6 oz (17g)

Since I dislike the original Pegasus set, it is the set I use now pretty much exclusively. I have modified several sets to use including a couple of wooden ones. I have pictures posted here of them. 

Marshall Kings are just slightly taller. The Queens slightly shorter. Other pieces all about the same. In addition the bases are slightly larger. I posted pics in this group of the White/Red set on the board. I found I needed to modify them slightly, very easy to do. @HHD3 did not need to modify his. Here is a comparison of the height of the Kings:

How come you had to modify yours and @HHD3 didn't?

Not sure, I started using mine and the third game I used with them the board did not register all the moves. I had to stop and go back to the online board. 

I modified them and have played about 10 games since - have not had any issues. Since I will only be using this set with this board I didn't really have problem with doing it.

Was it just a case of attaching the foil stickers?

Yes, that is all I have done. The stickers I bought need to be cut down for the pawns, I used the full sticker on the pieces. 

I like this metal set. No modification necessary with black felt bottoms. Available on E-Bay for $69.95. They play well and weigh more, being 100% metal. 3" King.
