Prison competition

I'm throwing out this proposal to see if there is any interest.  I participate in a prison ministry here in South Florida, and I have come to know many men who play chess and do it well.  I've brought softball teams inside and had a great time, and now I'd like to bring in a few men to play chess against them.  I've beaten them in softball and now I'm talking smack about chess, too.

I can guarantee a safe environment and a great time.  I also promise a rewarding experience for you.   This would probably  occur some time in late June or July.

By the way,  I speak Spanish if English is a problem.   Se puede escribir en espanol, si es mas facil.  Hay muchos prisioneros hispanos que nunca tienen visitas, y lo agradecerian muchisimo.

Sounds interesting, you should provide a location, time, estimated date. Even instructions on how to enter and leave. Just some suggestions. :),

dear Canwill, count me in... We used to do the same when we were at highschool in Chile... many,many years ago. If you let us know in advance it should be ok..

 I lived in Chile myself for 3 years many years ago.  Thanks for responding.  I still need more response before we can go in.  If only a few go, too many of them will be jealous.  I'll keep you posted.

 Cameras are not alowed inside without jumping through hoops, and even then they'd probably so "no."

Regarding dates, times, etc.  it is much more complicated than that.  Everyone would need to be cleared to enter, so background checks need to occur first.  I'm waiting to see the response to see if the effort is worth it.  Thank you.

Great to hear that you lived in Chile Ron. My son, Ignacio, should be coming along too... he's a rookie, though.

The prison has delayed our competition only because I just went in with a softball team last weekend.  The M-F staff came in on their day off to host us.  They didn't want to work another Saturday so soon in July.  So we have agreed to August 15th for those interested.  I have contacted Carvilla, UncleChessy, moabKb along with 2 masters here in PB County.  Eddoice, you are also invited.

This date has not been confirmed, but only because we are planning on taking the softball team back in on the same date.

Izjar, I will ask to take a camera in if we can play inside the chapel.  They generally don't allow cameras in prison, because they don't want the fences photographed, for obvious reasons.
