What? Why did I get points even though I got the puzzle wrong?

Sometimes if you get most of the moves but not all of them correct it will still increase your puzzle rating by a little bit.

Yeah, it’s because the moves are reasonable, just incorrect 

it's like an alternative move in the lessons, where the move still holds a draw or an advantage, or a forced checkmate, but the best move does the same or better, quicker.

I don't think so. I think it would be because he got part of the puzzle correct

Also because the puzzle is probably quite tricky compared to your rating
