I've already played with both the witch and time thief, and we are allowed to play with one piece that we've used from round 1. The barrier looks fun, but all good. So just witch and hunter?
RandomDog tournament #1
Ok, would you want to use the Zombie instead of one of the rooks actually?
Otherwise I'm fine with just the witch and hunter
The Zombie, Barrier, Witch, Time Thief and Hunter are all awesome pieces. I would encourage the use of any or all these pieces; with the exception of using both the Time Thief and Witch together, of course. Marks is correct that, for your two's 2nd round match, only one or the other may be deployed.
Otherwise, I pleasantly encourage all the other pieces (Barrier, Zombie, Hunter) to be a part of your next game.
That's not up to me.
I'm just saying.
Alright, contestants (@Marks1420, @Pootzies). Best of luck in your round 2 match, and best foot forward from both of you! ![]()
I'd rather not play with the zombie. I can start our game with the witch and hunter later
Sounds good
Folks, I have to give my biggest apologies to all the contestants of this tournament for my long absences. I am right now preparing for my participation in an academic/professional music composition summit in France. (Yes, more gradschool stuff!), which will be July 01-14, 2025.
Take heart: I will still be active by posting at least once every two days; if not every day. I'm speaking about the final round; which I will provide a prompt for soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please give your biggest congrats to @Pootzies and @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya for each their victory in Round 2! Both are our final contestants, whose ultimate match will start in a few days.
Final contestants, please decide and consent on whether you would like to replace the Queen with the LumberJack/Time Thief or simply keep the Queen as she is.
Please decide and consent on whether you would like to replace one or both Rooks with the Barrier or simply keep them as the Rooks they are.
And, last but not least, without informing your opponent(!!), please privately choose for yourself two on the following list of Bulldog variant pieces, which will start on your bottom right squares; report them to me in PM, so that your opponent will not know what they are.
- Barrier
- Angel
- Witch
- Lumberjack
- Builder
- Dwarf
- Time Thief
- Metamorph
- Werewolf
- Zombie
Restriction - With the exception of replacing both Rooks with the Barrier, you may not choose a Bulldog variant piece that is already being used. (If you and your opponent have consented to use the Barrier, Time Thief and/or Lumberjack as substitutional pieces for the Rook/Queen, for example, you may not select those pieces again to start on your bottom right squares. In another instance, if you've already selected one variant piece to start on one bottom right square, you may not select it again to start on your other.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, please familiarize yourself with the rules of the Tree, Magician, High-Priestess and Telepath!
Exciting time ahead is what I hope you all feel for this final round!
It seems @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya might be having quite the busy schedule; like I've been for the past 3-4 months.
Right now, I am awaiting my flight to France, which I board in literally less than an hour(!). I will be returning to the United States on the 17th. Meanwhile, I don't know what the internet situation will be like where I'll be staying in France.
With that said, you all have 'till July 17th to decide and consent on your final configurations for this deathmatch. (Though, the match might possibly start earlier than this, especially if I find there to be some decent internet connection!) If by July 20th, there still isn't a response from @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya, it'll be presumed that he/she has forfeited this deathmatch; and the tournament will go to Player4Speed/Pootzies/@Puzzles (his/her latest screen name
).
Happy early Fourth of July to my fellow USA citizens who commemorate it: our "independence" celebration date.

Hello Folks!
The French Alps are great! I will be home to West United States in three days. Please stay tuned.
@VM_LeaderAbhyudaya, I will answer your question now, because it's the easiest to, while I have measly internet connection here: They are not technically Bulldog pieces. They're crossovers from my own Variant inventions. See if you can find them. They are somewhere here on this site. ![]()
Of course, if someone wants to spoil the fun and let VM know specifically where those rules are, go ahead. haha
I’m really busy right now and don’t have time for a scavenger hunt so can you pls tell me where the rules are.

I totally agree with you asking this question to @BattleChessGN18, but couldn't resist looking for it having some spare time now. Actually I used google, knowing google also scans chess.com pages. And found 3 pages in this order - but I think that we were looking for the last one:

The witch and hunter are good for me
