I’m really busy right now and don’t have time for a scavenger hunt so can you pls tell me where the rules are.

I totally agree with you asking this question to @BattleChessGN18, but couldn't resist looking for it having some spare time now. Actually I used google, knowing google also scans chess.com pages. And found 3 pages in this order - but I think that we were looking for the last one:

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/hgmuller---would-like-your-help

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/magicians-death-match-my-invention-updated

https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/magicians-deathmatch

Yes, @Evert823 found it alright.

As he mentioned, the link you want to look at is the last of the three. Please completely disregard the first two links. Those are a bit outdated. The last link contains the current official rules of Magician's Deathmatch; the chess variant which houses the Magician, Telepath and High-Priestess.

~~~~~
In all honesty, in the official thread hosting the final match, I was going to post all rules required to play the final match, anyways; which include Magician's Deathmatch and Connect-the-Tree. I was merely trying to invoke the "scavenger hunt", as @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya puts it; just to be a little mysterious. haha
Anyways, contestants, please come to a consensus on the substitutional pieces (or the lack of) for the Queen and/or the Rook(s).
Substituting the Queen with the Time Thief, while keeping the Rooks as Rooks, has been proposed. Do both players consent to this? Are there any modifications from this that either player would like to make?
Please also decide soon and PM me what your two secret right-corner 'starting' Bulldog pieces would be, if you haven't done so already. I'm mostly free this week, but after that, I will be going back to a busier schedule; enamored with more classical musician's grad school business and all that jazz. (Attached with that were my jazz fingers. heh ) Best to get your decisions to me this week, rather than after.
Avatar of BattleChessGN18
Alright, contestants.
Please send me your choice of private 2 Bulldog pieces soon. I won't have as much time this week as I did last week, but I will be around to get things started.
One of you have already completed this task. If by Friday the other contestant has given no answer, I will take the first contestants answer and apply it to both opponents. We must get a move on, so that this tournament does not drag on for millenia!! 😁😁
If we finish this tournament before January 27th 2025 then it will be 1 year or less. For a bulldog tournament that would still be pretty fast. Cricket tournaments tend to be faster.
Avatar of BattleChessGN18
Oh yeah? 😁😁 There have been longer? Haha
I'd also prefer if we got this moving
Avatar of Min0taur11
Let's replace the queen with a time thief and keep the rooks as they are
I'm sending my choice of 2 pieces in PM shortly
Aw, sorry to keep you waiting, folks! The music composer's retreat fellowship is at a church that 'bans' gaming websites(??).
Please barebwith me. Either tonight or tomorrow night, I aho up old have some free time to find other wifi elsewhere.
Thanks for both sharing your private pieces. I do have an extra surprise, based in what you both shared. Stay tuned.
Avatar of BattleChessGN18
Yup,sorry, folks. Looks like we are going to have to wait until the 12th before the game gets started. This church where my retreat is held just doesn't like gaming websites. (Strange) I can't access this website here, except on my phone with cellular network; I need my laptop to post diagrams. The only place in this forest town with a public wifi does not have their wifi at the moment.
The 11th at night is when my retreat concludes. Thanks for sending in your answers. Please bear with me!
I can mod the game
Avatar of BattleChessGN18
I definitely appreciate the initiative, Evert. Unfortunately, it's a bit more complex than your average Bulldog setup, as you can see in the link that I'm about to share.
The thread for the match has (at long last!) been established.
Best of luck, final contestants! (@Puzzles and @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya)
Wonderful game from all! Thank you
@Puzzles (formerly Pootzies, formerly Player4Speed)
@VM_LeaderAbhyudaya
@Rook_Handler
@PandasAwesome
@ComradM
@Evert823
@Marks1420
for a wonderful series of games! I'm so happy that you all participated in a project to bring Bulldog Chess back to life. Not only did you all play some thoughtful and insightful games, this project gave rise to a few individual rated games! It was definitely worth my while, and I hope you all felt the same!
So, where is Bulldog headed? Is this the end? I encourage us all to not make it so! I will stop by every once in a while to perhaps host individual games, play a match or two myself, or even host another tournament (perhaps mini). I should hope some or all of you all will do the same.
****group hugs!****
Finally, in spirit and observance of @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya's triumph, as well as all who were strong, brave and confident enough to enter into this tournament (of quite uneasy faerie pieces!), I'd like to turn our attention to the music of BattleChess, to celebrate this tournament!
And, of course, second but not least needs to also be acknowledged: @Puzzles! He/She too went through a long struggle to achieve placement in the final round, and that should come with commendation as well!
Hi everyone!
I was think of organising another Bulldog tournament sometime around October or November (I’ll be busy for a month or so for exams).
The tournament would have the basic bulldog setup, with the guard and witch replaced with any player created pieces.
There would be a Swiss tournament (rounds may vary depending on number of players)and top 2 would play a best of 3 to decide the champion.
If any of y’all want to join, pls let me know in the forum I’ll be creating for this tournament.
These are the current ratings. Let us take @BattleChess's rating as 1200 as we don't have any info on that.
For rating changes:
@evert823 0-1 @Marks1420
@VM_LeaderAbhyudaya 1-0 @comradM
@Marks1420 0-1 @Puzzles
@Puzzles 0-1 @KapitalP_Pro (1200)
@Puzzles 0-1 @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya
@comradM 1-0 @BattleChessGN18 (pending from last time due to player not having an established rating)
Avatar of BattleChessGN18
My most previous rating was from 3 or 4 years ago; which I lost a match to Bulldog member, @AlexanderMatos (who is no longer a current member; which is quite a shame, since at least a handful of us enjoyed his games here). I suppose, because it's been that long, my rating got reset to 1200.
At least according to @Puzzles it is.
Avatar of Min0taur11
@BattleChessGN18: If you have even a rough idea of what your rating was , we can use that instead of 1200
@Puzzles: Could u do the rating changes please.
@comradM 1469 1-0 @BattleChessGN18 1200
@evert823 1347 0-1 @Marks1420 1583
@VM_LeaderAbhyudaya 1305 1-0 @comradM 1486
@Marks1420 1603 0-1 @Puzzles 1225
@Puzzles 1316 0-1 @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya 1379
I tried to arrange these in chronological order please let me know if I made a mistake. I was almost finished but realized I made an error so I had to start over and didn't focus too much on this part above.
@evert823 - 1347 -> 1327 Calculated from 1 game. A loss against @Marks1420
@Marks1420 - 1583 -> 1603 -> 1512 Calculated from 2 games, with a win against @Evert823 being before a loss against @Puzzles
@Puzzles (Formerly known as @4playerspeed, then known as @Pootzies - 1250 -> 1225 -> 1316 -> 1274 Calculated from 3 games, A loss to @KapitalP_Pro, A victory against @Marks1420 and a loss to @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya
@ComradM 1469 -> 1486 -> 1412 Calculated from the win against @BattleChessGN18 and the Loss to @VM_LeaderAbhyudaya
@VM_LeaderAbhyudaya 1305 -> 1379 -> 1419 Calculated from beating @ComradM and then @Puzzles
@KapitalP_Pro 1200 -> 1257 Calculated from beating @Puzzles
@BattleChessGN18 1200 -> 1183
The parts I put after the rating changes are in chronological order for which the games took place.
If you spot any mistakes feel free to let me know.
Thanks greatly for spending some decent time in creating our current rating. @Puzzles
As always, this is awesome.
Avatar of Min0taur11
Thanks Puzzles!
Umm...Can ratings go below 1200? I didn't think so.
Also I think you should calculate the rating using the player's Starting rating for all matches, like FIDE does. It would just be much easier for you and wouldn't make much of a difference
