RED ARMY GROUND-RULES

Dear Teammates,

In order to promote an environment that is as rewarding, and as just, as can be for all of our members, the Administrators of the Red Army are proposing that we, the Red Army membership, adopt the following 'ground-rules'. These 'ground-rules' shall act as the guideline which governs our participation in the group; and shall apply to all without favour.

This group links each individual to each other, Manchester United football, and Chess.com. As such, we are a community asking for your support and feedback; we encourage you to please post your comment on or before Sat 28th, Nov, 2009.

Thank you.

RED ARMY GROUND-RULES

1. TEAM MATCHES - Play tough and fair to the end. Take vacation if you can before needlessly timing out, or easily giving up, games. The group's resources can improve your play!
(We have a Man Utd theme - have we ever won a European cup in less than 90 mins...this is our philosophy.)

2. VOTE CHESS - Play as a team. Read the previous post. Post your ideas for team evaluation if you differ. This reduces the chances of inferior moves winning the vote! (We are yet to hear a good argument against this policy.)

3. BEHAVIOUR - We don't suffer spammers, posting inappropriate links, and disrespect of ones teammates or others, etc. (Essentially the same as chess.com public forum rules.)

4. MEMBERSHIP - By joining Red Army, and retaining membership, you agree to accept these ground-rules.

This replaces the other two postings as this posting combines all of the rules into one thread.

The rules are fair & square.  Go Red Army. Go Manchester United.  It was sad to see Bekistas beat MU with young players but the antidote for this is that Liverpool is out of CL & EPL. :)

These ground rules appear rigorous though not too opressive.I see no mention of banning Red Army members who fail to adhere to the rule of timing out or quitting after using their vacation time is used up. Has this been excluded completely or will it rear its ugly head again ?

EternalHope

That hasn't changed. We reserve the right to ban people who don't accept our rules. There has to be consequences, or these ground rules will have no meaning whatsoever.

VuduChile

It has changed in the sense that there is now a procedure for Admins to follow involving notifications to the individual; and any actions have to be an Admin team decision & the individual has a mechanism for appeal.

Thank you Vuduchile for stepping in and clarifying my question fully & tactfully," I thought I was about to run into some Crosstown Traffic again, you get me?"As you had began this thread I thought I would get a reasonable answer from you, so that was the only reason I posted anything at all.I have no wish to get embroiled in a unproductive debate with EH ever again.

We all try our best, thank you

Thank you to VuduChile for submitting this forum. This is on behalf of a group of experienced admins who work together to find the best way forward for our group. As always, feedback was requested and given consideration.

Following Xandy's comments here, I want to ensure that members understand that EH is the Super Admin of the group and should not be disrespected in group forums. EH has contributed more to this group than any other member and that should be remembered. The more positive and active group members are all grateful for his excellent contributions.

As always, posts should refer to the topic of the thread, not individuals. Making something unnecessarily personal is against chess.com rules.

Abuse of rules on chess.com may lead to being banned from the site. Abuse of group rules may lead to being banned from the group, and in the case of rule 3 may be reported to chess.com staff; to determine if the member should be subject to further warning or banning from chess.com, depending on the severity.

Warning notices for being in breach of the group rules are largely at the discretion of the group admins. The safest thing to do is just avoid breaking rules needlessly, as they are there to allow the majority to enjoy group membership in an ordered manner with a positive attitude. Please do not rely on receiving a warning message as these are not 100% guaranteed.

If any member wishes to remain a Red Army member, but disagrees with our rules, follow the link to group alerts and uncheck the boxes for the area you disagree with. For example, if you do not wish to share your thoughts in a vote chess game, uncheck 'Vote chess'. If you often time out or resign quite easily, uncheck 'Team matches'. Therefore you will not receive invitations to these events.
