A shame to hear!
While I did not know him well personally, his enthusiasm for chess and for the EL and other competitions on here were certainly hard to miss.

Team Romania just received the tragic news that our dear friend and amazing person to all, Nicu_57 (Nicu Ion), died from cancer. Our hearts are broken.
He was one of the main two founders of Team Romania and our Super Admin for many years. Almost everything Team Romania achieved is mainly thanks to his continuous determination, dedication and tenacity.
He was not infallible, but we learned from his mistakes and will remember him for his warm soul, friendship and wisdom.
Rest In Peace Nicu!
