Rules

There's been some confusion from time to time what is and is not allowed in 4 Player Chess (4PC) and here I want to make things clear.

First, public accusations are NOT allowed. If you find a player you believe is cheating in 4 Player Chess, then you can send an abuse report using "Help - Report Abuse" menu with details about the incident(s). All such reports will be reviewed, although you may not receive a direct response. You may NOT post the names of people you believe are cheating in the forums or elsewhere where anyone can see them.

Having multiple accounts on Chess.com is NOT allowed. This is part of Chess.com's terms of service. Naturally, this means you are not allowed to use multiple accounts to play 4 Player Chess.

In free for all, the game should be played as free for all. You may not "team up" with another player to gain an unfair advantage. Neither prearranged teaming or teaming up through chat during the game is allowed. If you want to play as a team, then you should play the teams variant. All this said, you don't need to be afraid of taking advantage of a player checking another player or similar things. That is not teaming and just part of the game.

'Sandbagging' is not allowed and neither is playing with a sandbagged partner in team games. This means that you are not allowed to prematurely resign multiple games to get a lower rating.

Breaking any of these rules may in result in a temporary or permanent ban from 4 Player Chess or a sitewide account ban in more extreme cases.

If you find a player breaking these rules, then we encourage you to send an abuse report using "Help - Report Abuse" menu with details about the incident(s). Unfortunately, however, we will not be able to readjust someone's rating upward because they lost to teaming. If you would like to discuss cheating in the forums in this club, then make sure that you do not mention any names or your post will get deleted.

@IVI4N, I guess we can, but just in case do not create it with your own nickname. If we're going to create it we might as well provide screenshots as proof.

@Martin0, I appreciate all the work that some people put into this game to be as fun as it is. But clearly the mods are pretty slow to react. We already had obvious cheaters standing weeks (or months?...) on both leaderboards. That wouldn't happen in the other formats this website provides.

This is not meant to be an insult to you or any other guy working on 4 player chess, as it seems clear that the resources to work on it are fewer. But it does provide some explanation on why this kind of posts (poiting at dishonourable players) emerge regularly. It the website doesn't provide justice, people will look for other ways of creating it. Discussing freely on the matter looks like a good way of doing it to me. In my opinion everyone should make their own mind when presented with proof.

I like the spirit. Waiting for it to be implemented.

Cheers.

Stop it...IVI4n

What about when a player leaves a possible mate, like one player can sac a bishop for mate. Would pointing it out in chat be considered illegal? After all it's just communicating an idea so that a player gets mated. In my opinion if a player hangs mate in 1 if two players play the right move, I think that was the mistake of the player who hung it. Even if it takes a small material investment and cooperation to make it happen.

Holding a black list off site isn't functionally different to having one in the forum except that it's harder to connect you directly to it. It is still an open violation of chess.com's policy and it's still utterly toxic for the community. I strongly urge you to reconsider.

Doesn't look like these rules are being enforced. Many players have multiple accounts and in FFA players team up frequently. Perhaps FFA needs some kind of change that inherently discourages playing as a team, because I think it's rather difficult to enforce this rule and draw a line between what is and is not allowed.

Maybe something like subtracting points (e.g. -10) for setting up a checkmate for someone else and giving fewer points for a checkmate that is supported by someone else (e.g. +10 instead of +20)? It would make playing as a team less advantageous I think and at the same time taking advantage of other players' attacks would be rewarded even more, since it will hurt two players. Just some idea. Maybe there are better ways.

the old version did not save any information on the game or players, making it virtually impossible to detect anthing. it also lacked tools to do much about it, even if detected.

the new verions saves the games, and provides admins the necessary data and tools to detect and act upon abuse.

we will also add an abuse report form in a future update.

Where is my place in the TOP? I finished 3 games for 3 days. And why I can not create new topic here in the forum?

You need to play at least 25 games in total.
