Share your quickest checkmate. or your favourite one.
You didn't checkmate them: Green obviously abandoned the game, you as Red went for the 20 points (that wasn't going to be granted) and Yellow being a novice moves their Bishop to threaten your Queen as they forget on the next cycle Red moves (and would probably capture the Bishop) first than them.
Looks to me like a team game where green fell into a dangerous opening trap, and red/yellow coordinated well to punish him.
This proves that a mistake in the Teams Mode is much more dangerous than in Free For All. In the FFA yellow would not help red, because red gets +20 for the checkmate and then eats yellow bishop. And yellow gets nothing.
It also shows that Team Mode has a version of the Fool's Mate, although it's easier to walk into with normal-looking moves.
Blue should cry for needing to sacrifice his bishop for a check. He was probably looking for a mate in 100 though.
Bab??? in FFA red would get +9 (red q) +5 (yelow b) and yellow gets the mate for the price of a bishop! i will take this all day long as red and as yellow. only thing is, if blue is decent he will check yellow (even in FFA). still i like QxQ for red here, in FFA even more because blue will always check in teams (well.. he should..)
imo the blunder is green opening his queen to red.
as yellow i play g12 instead of g11 here. (in teams)
This is why I've advocated strongly that there should be 2 options to play 4PC
- Free For All (meaning every opponent for themselves, if along the way they team up so be it but ultimately 2 opponents should duel it out until checkmate or a draw is established.)
- Team with the option to
- Pick one's teammate
- [For that member who doesn't have a teammate] allow for someone random to sit as a teammate
@Empire i wanted this thread to be examples of checkmates. i don't mind some discussion of those, but please dont go off-topic
Dashes_And_Underlines, you are right. Yellow steals the checkmate and gets +20, red gets +9 and +5. I was wrong. Anyway, I am still right that in the Teams Mode this red queen and yellow bishop move combination has near 100% probability, while in Free For All the probability is lower. Look at https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/buddy-not-cooperating
@babYagun that dipends on how strong the players are... (and also on the possibility to use chat)
by the way yellow gets a very good position from killing green in FFA together with the 20 points

this is teams not free for all
