Reasons for and against premove*
1. you can get a big lead in time and timeout somebody (for)
2. your opponent can figure out you are using premove and can knock out all your pieces (against)
* if you come up with anymore write em' down. try premove for yourself
Premoves shouldn't be removed just because one player can get a slight lead, or another player can take your pieces.
The 'con' you mentioned isn't a very big deal, especially since it's just that one.
Besides, if you know enough to set up good premoves, it shouldn't be an issue if the opponent knows that you are using them.
Also, premoves shouldn't be removed just because you can't defend against a player who knows what you're doing.
You AND your opponent both gets to premove. This seems totally fair to me.

Both players have the option to premove and a check or unexpected move could destroy an entire premove chain and cost the premover extra time, so I think they should remain.

You say this, but your post makes it seem like you would like for premoves to be removed because they have the chance to put you at a disadvantage. But since both players can use premoves, that makes your 'con' invalid.
i like what you said about the destroying the premove chain, but i was more directing this to 10 second matches where if you castle its really hard to check someone and stop the premove

Premove should always be turned on for time controls <= 1 min. That's my humble opinion...

Dude if premoves are not your type, play higher time controls or time controls with increment. A lot of players support premove as it has a lot of uses than defects. So you might feel being insulted rather than knowing that they are just supporting it.
I don't know if this is a big deal or not but in a lot of bullet games under 30 sec, i rely on premove for the first 5-10 moves to get a few seconds ahead. It seems that premove can be bad, but in ten second games, all you really have to do is avoid a check. you can do premove to castle kingside and set up defense, all before your opponent can get set up. If you have any thoughts on this, please comment, because i am perplexed as to what premove can do to help and hurt you. (to turn on premove, go to settings and click "enable premove." premove works by clicking on a square to move to BEFORE your opponent moves. you can have multiple premoves set up)
