I have seen that issue too, but it doesn't bother me that much... ok actually it really bothers me, but it's not a deal breaker, because it's not like I have to scroll through the information. For chess.com staff: How would you feel giving the power of code to the users? (I know that in most of the forums that I comment on that aren't chess.com allow users to edit code when typing) e.g. I press insert image and it'll have the code for an image (shown as text)
When I post tables in forum threads, the editor often generates spurious scrollbars like this:
This scrollbar has no function because the table is not wider than the frame. Even worse, when I copy a table of this kind and paste it again, the spurious scrollbar inflates:
Both these screenshots are from the thread https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2017-wcl-division-3-groups-and-schedule. I use Firefox as my browser, but I have also checked this with Chrome, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
On a technical level, this seems to be connected with auto-generated <div> tags like this:
<div class="table-responsive narrow-table">
If I'm in an environment in which I can see and edit the HTML code, I can remove these tags and then the scrollbars disappear -- but unfortunately, in most cases, I don't have the option of editing the HTML code. See the thread
