In OTB chess, no one forces you to make a move.
exactly
I look at chess at a kind and polite game. Don't like to force a move on anyone if they legitimately have the time. Those are the rules. It is frustrating to wait( (sometimes very frustrating), but part of the game.
u have ur on opinions idc bye

-1 the person with only one legal move gains time.
YES EXACTLY I AM SURE IF ANY OF YOU PLAY BULLET LIKE ME YOU HAVE LOST GAMES WERE YOU CANT FIND THE LEGAL MOVE THIS ASPECT MAKES IT FAIR IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THAT THEN STUY THAT PART OF THE GAME.

I think this is a great idea for normal games. I've had bad sports stall for 8 minutes in rapid games. I finally enabled premoves on my settings. I just premove and tidy up my room a little while waiting because I don't want to resign a won game. For bughouse, stalling is allowed to let your partner have a chance to win.
It's something like : Automaticly end a debut, if opponent is doing book moves.
Time is added to make games fair, and give each player the same chance of winning. Computer shouldn't do any moves instead of player, because (for example) checks are very often used to make opponent lose some time.
I suggested this before, in the context of daily games, and was surprised at the amount of negative reaction. people didn't like the idea for daily chess, i'm sure it will "fly like a lead balloon" for live chess.
I find it hard to believe that in old-school correspondence chess (ie, postal chess) a player couldn't automatically "jump ahead" to the next move when there is only one legal response to the move that was just made. I'm too lazy to try to look up the formal rules/guidelines for old-school postal chess, but this had to have been addressed "back in the day".
and for those of you saying conditional moves are the same thing, you aren't understanding the issue. It's not the same as a conditional move.
bottom line, it's been discussed before and it looks like it'll never happen. In live chess it would be too confusing for new or very lowly ranked players who wouldn't understand that a move was forced. "My opponent cheated!!!" or "the game was bugged!!!" will be the endless complaints from the peanut gallery. It won't be 100% obvious to every player that a move was the only legal move available -- especially under time pressure. It'll look to them like the website/game glitched.
But I totally understand where the suggestion is coming from, and for daily games I think it's a great idea. But it's not going to happen.

That's a good point... In my post I was saying it should be done it it's a last "checkmate" move. Many players stall the game just before the last move. I see you point during the midgame though
