So for a win we get 3points, like with soccer?

WallyJack's Wonderful Wizards of Oz have 1 draw in November against Chess Empire, 1 loss in December against Super Troopers (SVC) and a win in January against the Power of Chess

Here are the standing as of round 3. Same key used by Will in post number 1. I will enter in the first blood tie-break system if I start understanding it.
You got everything exactly right, almost. Animal Lovers, Chess Unlimited, and Burning Nuts all have identical stats, but Animal Lovers earned their 3rd win (their 9th point) before Chess Unlimited did, who did so before Burning Nuts did. So that's the order they should be listed in. The first blood rule really is that simple.

The further in we get, the less the first blood will mean. Thanks for posting the stats when you did!!

Hey, I just had an idea!!
I know that a lot of people hate the First Blood tie-breaker. And I've always said that I'm always open to suggestions. That's why we've got 3 columns of info before we get to that: Tie-Breaker Points first, fewest Forfeits second, and fewest Timeouts third (Head-to-Head results (current season only) will trump all of these tho). Well how about a forth column for longest game (current season only)? That way if two teams have identical stats, but one of them played for 50 moves, while the other team's longest game was only 20 moves, the team making 50 moves would win the tie breaker. What do you think?
I submit this change to you the people for ratification and discussion.
Here's what it would look like right now:

the rule is open to abuse
a drawn game might be played out longer just to get a higher tie break rating.

That's a good point, but they'd probably only draw a game out once. After that they wouldn't try to beat that record every month. Regardless of the motivation tho, isn't the longer games a testament to stamina, which is a key factor in these games? Just playing devil's advocate. No decision has been made. I'm listening to everyone.

I agree with Mithras, it 'could' be open to abuse, but even without teams not deliberately dragging games out, it shouldn't be a factor as a team might have played long because playing against an opponent who is trying to drag the game out.

I think the best and most fair way is in the end the tied first place winners play sudden death
In the END, if it's for FIRST place, they DO play to the death. We've had a couple of draws that needed to be re-played in the playoffs. Fortunately, there's no need for that in the regular season.
The tie-breaking thing really only comes to play as far as seeding goes. And the seasons last long enuf as it is. We don't need extra games just to decide the playing order.
Still, you make a good point that the team who played first would be at a disadvantage because the second team would know what to aim for to win the tie-breaker.
I agree that the new column would encourage teams to play their games longer than they may have otherwise. It sounds like many would not like to encourage this. Without this column, in the exact same situation, we reward the team who played their game the soonest. I don't have a problem with either.
