f4
tactics of the day 11/14

...f4 is what I would play, too. But, I feel like Philip is teasing us there is a less obvious move somewhere.

e2 looks pretty good to me, even if they just push their pawn... we get our Queen first along with first check.

Surely we'd be worried about that passed pawn - I'd take on G6 "check" and then rook to B2 - I think

1 .. e2 does not win
2 Re5! f4
3 g7 f3
4 g8Q Rf1
and here you can check repeat and the king can not get to safety. My first tests tells me you can check mate the king easily with no chance to crown the pawn.
1 .. Rg2
2 g7 e2
3 Kf7 e1Q and it goes to victory
or
3 Re5 f4
for me it is a lost position for white.
So I would say that 1 .. Rg2 is the move for black to win.
I haven't analysed f4 a lot but it seems pretty close to e2, only with the difference of Re5 and then Re8 pinning the black pawn and freeing the way for the black pawn to crown.
This is a nice one, enjoy!
