Team B

Hello everyone,

I would like to know your opinion about this issue: A former admin of our national Team Spain has created a team named Team Spain B with the clear intention of use our name to deceive the Spanish players. Do you think that this is a dishonest representation and Chesscom should not allow this actions or do you think that everyone may name their clubs as they please, like Team USA B, Team Russia B or Anything B?

I think they must make specific marks to teams

As marks of GM to be known for all

in what way are the Spanish players being deceived?

are members of Team Spain B also permitted to join the regular team?

The description of Team Spain B doesn't seem to suggest any intent to pass itself off as the same club as Team Spain, and the club's avatar is different.  They don't suggest that they are the same club or an off shoot of the club, at least as far as I can tell looking at their public page.

Team Spain

Team Spain B

Yea if that is meant to be a deception it is a very bad deception. I, and all my friends, can look at Team Spain and Team Spain B and see that they are two different things.....

The Spanish players think that it is a kind of subsiduary for low rated players.

Of course, they are allowed to join the regular team.

Do they? Why would they think that?

My opinion , he was an ex admin then creates team Spain B , no not on at all , he must be butt hurt , why did he leave ?

He could have named it 1000 different names but just puts a B on the end of the same team name , and it is an official Spain team , and unless all members of the official team say its ok to have another Spain Team then its not ok.

To me it could not possibly be more clear it is underhanded a low blow , a dig , or butt hurt retaliation for some argument

Curious: why is either team named in English?  Especially the national team?  Why not Equipo de España?

I don't know but I think that the most part of national teams were created by Chesscom in the early times, Team Spain was founded in 2008. And some national characters like the ñ letter doesn't work in other keyboards.

i dont think it effects anything, seems its a club for the lower ranked players to maybe get games that they may not get in the A Team

it won't be against site rules, but if it's used as some sort of filtering process, then might not in keeping with WL or EL rules...

is it used to keep lower rated players out of big matches?

It would be a problem if the new team tries to take part in the leagues like World League and European League. You might want to come to an amicable agreement with Team B that they leave those leagues to you and concentrate on the casual matches against general clubs.

Other countries have more than one national group. Spain is by no means the first.

Actually there is an element of deception here, just by adding the letter B it could be suggestive that Team B is sanctioned by the official Team Spain

Hmmm...

This is an interesting one.

Folks can hypothesis as much as they like , it is clear butt hurt , guy leaves then makes a B club of the club he just left.

Let me see whats this club ? Club Admins , what says I leave and make Club Admins B

Avatar of blackfirestorm

This has happened many times before when the SA in the first team had a falling out with a particular admin so that admin went off to create a new “Team B”.

If you are really bothered then put a note into the team description that your team is not affiliated with “Team B”

There actually is a Team Argentina B, but it doesn't seem like any of the B teams are trying to copy the original.

As @blackfirestorm said, you can put it in your public description that your team is not affiliated with the B team.

Yes, but the allegation in the thread which @gambit-man posted is that the main Argentina team was only open to players who qualify out of the B team. If that is true it suggests that the Argentina team playing in the World League was not open to weaker players which would give Argentina an unfair advantage.

There are various countries I know with more than one national team. In those cases just one team, open to players of all strengths, plays in the leagues without problem. That is the situation which Team Spain should be maintaining, I suggest.
