I believe this is a logical approach to castling. If you move your king 2 or more squares to any side the castling intent on most cases is implicit.
For the Chess960 issue I think some links to games where it happened would be helpful, to find out whether there's a pattern to it or if the king was sitting specifically at g8/c8 or g1/c1, from where castling would just shift the rook but not the king.

I'm not sure of the intent of that statement, Luc but castling in 960 is only possible if the rook/s and King finish up on the same squares as a normal game. Is that what you're saying?

Except on f8, the king moves there, and on d8, the same. Oh, and g8 and h8 both castle to g8, and c8,b8, and a8 all go to c8.
