I've seen some clubs which have a mandatory discussion period before making a move, and some clubs that stick to basics. Those that advocate for it say that it makes sure that a good move is played, and helps lower-rated players learn the why behind each move. Those that oppose it generally say that a discussion period makes players not want to check back, and takes away from the voting aspect of vote chess. What's your opinion? Should we have it... or not?
PS: I'll share my opinion after/if some people share.
I say yes, have it. With exceptions for forced moves and very early in the opening. My rationale is the same as those groups. It works and leads to stronger chess!
