Franco Colapinto has caught the eye of many people after very quickly adapting to life at Williams ever since Logan Sargeant was dropped and replaced by him. But given that Williams has already signed Carlos Sainz for 2025, he may struggle to retain a seat going forward.
Williams' Team Boss James Vowles was interviewed on this subject, and even himself was surprised at how quickly Colapinto adapted to Formula 1, having expected Franco to only show true form by the Americas. He mentioned that his strength is the ability to "take all of this pressure, thousands of things that come at you, and just deal with it in his stride". After being asked about Carlos Sainz and how he compares to Franco, he went on to say that Colapinto can "drive the socks off" of the Williams car, but before that, noted Sainz's "ability to lead the team forward".
The 2 vacant seats remaining are RBs seat (currently occupied by Liam Lawson) and Sauber's open seat (currently being fought over by Zhou Guanyu, Valtteri Bottas, and many others). In that regard, it's mostly sealed, but the last bits of silly season are an unknown.
