What Happened to the Quoting Tool in Messages?

Happens to mee to sometimes..

Starting normal, fades into smaller and smaller.  

Not only messages, forum too...

I guess they updated it so it worked off of something closer to a screenshot instead of just putting in all of the words this way they wouldn't take up as much space?
