Of course. That is a possible explanation.
Still, I would think that somebody would be appointed to take up the slack during his absence.
JD is on vacation! If you have any questions or concerns that you need addressed in the meantime, you can contact support@chess.com. Otherwise, I am sure he will review what has occurred when he returns.
There are also other Chess.com staff reviewing these posts in the meantime, so someone else may yet respond.
@jdcannon is an extremely hard worker on chess.com, in my humble opinion. He has helped me quite a bit the last few months answering questions or guiding me in the right direction to solve problems. I hope he enjoys his well deserved vacation! 
It is not fair to expect an instant response because there are a lot of members and a lot of issues placing demand on jd and the rest of the support people

JD has returned I am happy to hear you all missed me
I was indeed on Vacation. I was hiking for the last week. I covered 125 miles and now have sore feet. Quite happy to get back to my desk job where I can work on getting a sore butt instead of sore feet.
