The London system is nowhere near accepted as the best opening for white by GMs. The reason some play it, is because there is not much theory behind it. You will not find many or any London Systems at the highest tournaments like The Candidates. There is no best opening for white, but if we had to choose one or some it would be the ones who have been played for hundreds of years and still do. Those are: Ruy Lopez, Queen's Gambit, Italian Opening, Open Sicilian.
