who appointed the national official teams???

I am seriously concerned about national teams, since my country has one that is not really representative of all of us, in fact it has a small call to international parties. This is an injury to all members of my nation. In my club we are more than 1,000 members all active, and we organize live matches of more than 30 boards with great strength rating, therefore, we do not agree on who appointed the national official teams, and I think I am not alone at respect.

The same situation is even more serious in the team china. Unfortunately this can't be changed easily.

National teams exist from very beginning (like 12 years) & every day/month/year members like you showing up with same question all over. If you wanna to do something or get involved then msg to Admins of your N. team and ask. I know we have own ideas and maybe manage better,even members making multitiples teams and making confusion but ask and tell them your opinion and what can you do,they can make you Admin. Members who are here for long time like me appointed National teams and created WL-EL etc.

I personally created so many teams and let them manage,after sometime I leave that club because at that time there was just few paying members.

Somehow you're right, but in our case, many players are leaving the national team because they disagreed with their administrator, nor did the SA create the team, he came later, and my members and I, who really represent our country we have our hands tied. We are close to them about number of members, but difference is about activity of them, probably in a few days we get more than them, and that make injury to all of us. In many ways this is wrong because just one SA have kidnapped a whole nation, this is complete unfair.

I understand you very well but I believe you can't do anything,I remember around 2012 we asked chess.com to make official by them but no results because they didn't wanted to get involved and mess with members (customers) but we managed somehow to get at least staff to be Admins too and that way was more like official. I see changes these days maybe will be better.

Many players have had to join an alternative club to participate in the LCPAL but it is also understood that there cannot be 2 clubs representing the same country but I think that somehow it has to be resolved either by joining those clubs

May be a contest between all club who feel possibility to represent their nations, and winners will win the right to call them "Team"

@LeonGreco Can`t you create a new club by your own where the "kidnapping SA" is not allowed to enter. it needs some time to built up a large team but I`m sure many memebrs  see your point and will join.

You can give a similar name and talk to the League admins explaining that your club is the "real and honest" one

I had the exact same thing with my county team. When all was said and done the admin in the other team just wouldn't cooperate so my team was rebranded as the true team.

It only worked because the TD was a fair person. 

I have a simular problem l, there are a number of teams in the UK, like Team Scotland, Team Wales Team UK of which i am SA, now i applied to join the  national league but was declined on account that Team England was already a member of the league 

Team UK isn't a specific team. The 5 nations that comprise England Scotland Wales N. Ireland and Rep. Ireland have already got their own teams whereas UK comprises people from all the nation's.

Correct, but saying that technically according to the rest of Europe the UK is all one country, which is why the Scottish nationals want independence 

But that's bringing politics into it. 

At the end of the day you have Scotland Wales England and N. Ireland and Rep Ireland all being represented. I suspect it's going to continue being that way even after the UK has fractured into 1000 pieces cuz of politics. 

This is an interesting topic, as long as it doesn't get "political" in a 'personal' sense (admins campaining against other admins).

I think the reasons you have England, Wales Scotland, 2 Irelands (and starting from this year also Channel Islands!) representing those parts of the world and not, say, United Kingdom or Great Britain seem to be 'historical' rather than political.

Those were the teams that showed up at the stage when this 'peculiar' internet geography was forming.

For similar reasons, in WL you have Galicia alongside Spain (but, for example, not Catalonia), Vatican City has a team of its own, etcetera.

There is no such thing here as "national teams" because there is no official body which would accept/decline some team into FIDE sanctioned league. I think it could be US team where things are controlled by USCF but thats all about it.

World League is ran by few people who have their own rules which have nothing to do with FIDE or any other official body from chess world. 

From my experience, main problem with so called "national" teams here is that in some clubs few admins simply usurped powers and they ban/kick out players which they don't like, no mater if they qualify for club membership by other criteria (being citizen of some country/region).

In my case, I spoke against cheaters in certain national club, not knowing that at the time cheaters were also two SA and few admins. I've got kicked out and banned with explanation that my actions disturbed "harmony" in club. Since then, those who kicked me out got kicked from site, of course they do have new accounts (some even 5 or 6 times) but by some magic they are still admins in very same club.

I exchanged lots of messages with CM @Illmago who is head of WL (or was at the time) and there was some understanding but problem was not resolved. I simply lost any interest to chase this thing any further, mainly because it's impossible to make things right without chess.com staff intervention into matter, which chess.com wont do or even try because they think it wont bring any money or new members to the site.

To conclude this tirade, its waste of time to talk, think or do anything about this, because nobody gives a flying f.

Congratulations on the instructive post, all said and just wasting time writing on the topic of national teams. Greatly explained how things are in national teams. Someone suggested that club owners be tagged and it would be fair to everyone not to hide behind "their national teams"...
