Your best D&D stories here!
I don't have many good ones...
An ogre attacked the town and the town hired you to kill him, but in his cave you find a portal to a new dimension full of dangerous monsters and treasures.
Okay this was a funny one.
I joined a group that had been meeting every week. They had been working n the same dungeon, for the last 18 months. And they were still only 75% through it. Forget what it was called. But was one of the biggest dungeons ever made, at that time.
The object was to get through the dungeon, and then fight Orcus at the end.
There was a woman in the group. Super nice gal. And super knowledgeable about D&D. I liked her a lot, don't get me wrong. But used to tick me off, I could never get her to laugh. Ever. Even if I told a joke, got the rest of the room rolling.
Anyway, i spent about 6 months playing with them. We finally get to the end of the dungeon, and fight Orcus. And beat him.
Our characters are walking out of the dungeon with our loot. The DM is descrivbing the closing scene. And i said "And Orcus would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you snooping kids!"
She bust a gut, laughing!

I haven't played in a year or two, no.
And your guess is as good as mine, for the name.
What happened? Lost interest?
Alright.
No, Orcus is not in Undermountain.
Alright, where can it be found?
Try the Nine Hells.

No wasn't there.
And plus, I think The Nine Hells are for Devils. Not Demons.
Another story.
Was a D&D group. But one week our DM brought in a different game for that evening, named Savage Lands.
Was a very generic RPG game, which was supposedly usable in any setting. Not just medieval.
And our DM was a history major. He asked us to pick what setting we wanted, and he would provide an adventure on the spot. We settled on Old West.
We had a couple joining us for the first time that night too. Early in the session, the guy made a smart alek crack toward me. So I kept my eye out for a chance to get him back.
In game, our characters were standing around the body of a man who had just been gunned down in the street. As the guy's character was a mortician, I saw my chance for revenge, and asked him to say a prayer for the deceased. Thinking I would put him on the spot.
Everybody stood up, took their hats off, and bowed their head. I thought I had him.
And this guy just went straight into this beautiful eulogy. Dropped my jaw, was so good.
Turned out he had 2 or 3 years of seminary school under his belt.
What were the odds of that???
