Is anyone having problems again with using Square off Pro for playing on chess.com and lichess. I keep running different types of bugs!
SpanishStallion
I do not trust E-boards anymore, my Square off board pro has several glitches which are very annoying such as capturing pieces, time lag which makes it impssible to play blitz, does not show my opponents’ elo and I cannot even choose random colour for playing which means I can always play white if I wish. Also, the Square-off app is very inconvenient to use and does not have enough functions and features to enable an enjoyable chess time

Not sure why you do not "trust e-boards" anymore if you only have experience with the Square Off Pro.

I have most of them, including the Square Off Pro. That board/system is horrible. The other boards (Chessnut, DGT, Chessup) are very good and I just saw an early report on the iChessone (not a pre-release) that states it is a very good experience.

It is my opinion, that the chessup2 running on the internet and not being dependent on Bluetooth will be much more reliable.

I hope the actual delivered product has the reliable and stable wifi connection that is promised.

So do I. It sounds like a fun Winter if it does and I hope it will prepare me for a 2025 Summer tournament I am hoping to enter.

I guess the Android app should require a BT/BLE connection, not sure though.

Oh ... and the full piece recognition is kind of cool !!!

TundraMike

No app if I am not mistaken for the ChessUp2.

The question is considering that Square-off Pro is horrible, why its seller does not improve it and remove the glitches. $279 is still a high price and it must be justified in quality!

Many people in various business enterprises are first and foremost concerned with making money, instead of offering a quality product. Altho people purchasing an inferior product will not purchase another one they argue there are many unsuspecting people whose money they can still get by marketing.

Mike, per the Kickstarter Comments page, a question by user Francisco Ponce about a month ago:

  • Could we see some of that in the app before the board arrives?

And response from Jeff Wigh (Chessup creator):

  • The opening trainer is published on Android app but not yet on the iOS app (coming later). So you can test it out on Android, but not iOS at the moment.

So it appears the Chessup2 will have an app similar to Chessup1. I think the Wi-Fi is only for connecting to the websites for games. I am asking for clarification on the Kickstarter page and the Discord channel for Chessup.

Thanks @Rsava

And the reply on Discord from BryghtLabsBae (official Chessup account)

<@709821110132146296> Hi there! Yes, WiFi for connecting to Chess . com and Lichess to play games. If a user wishes to analyze their games for post game analysis, run a firmware update, etc they will need to use the ChessUp app. The app will never go away, all the same features will still be there!

I am very much looking forward to this board coming out, will be a nice addition to my collection.
Now to start improving ..... 😔
SpanishStallion
If it is going to be like Square-off Pro board then it is not worth buying it even for 10 bucks!
Rsava

It will not be.

They already have a successful board out, Chessup1.

Please stop posting about SOP, you keep bringing up SquareOff, which is a horrible board. We get it. This thread is about Chessup 2, which comes from a reliable company, BryghtLabs.

If you truly want to keep it up, start a new thread.

Plenty of us have a number of e-boards that are very good. I consider the SquareOff to be a bad board. Sorry you bought one and feel like it did not meet your expectations. Neither did mine (and I bought 2 of them). It sits in a corner and I pull it out every few months to see if it has improved. It has not.

Thanks for understanding, @SpanishStallion

I watched Anish Giri’s review of Square-off Pro and I trusted his positive review and opened my wallet innocently. I have no experience with Chess Up. Is it made in China or USA?
