I would like to know if you can let the computer play a simulated game / respond to different scenarios . I set the game situation and see how the computer responds both as black and white. Is this possible in board editor. Thank you

FYI - would this would be like hitting the F1 key in Chessbase as an engine 'thinks'...basically like showing the current 'best' move/line for the side to move...then hitting F1 which shows what it would do (like what it threatens) if it had the other side?

It will be possible with the next release (just a couple of days out).
You will be able to see the top move on one side, play it, and the Ai can play the other side. In effect, this is the "computer" line for both sides.
Eventually we may add computer vs computer so the human just observes and moves on the computer's behalf. But the mode we have with maximum hints and play against stockfish is almost the same thing.

Anyone struggling with the latest update?

I’ve just updated my board and it’s stopped all of the board lights working completely. Screen works, pieces register (can see if in board editor) but impossible to play because you can’t see the moves made!

Over the past month I’ve had the opportunity to try a couple of other computer boards on the market; one of which was a very expensive ‘top of their range’ module from a rival manufacturer. In my humble opinion the Chessup 2 system, with its coloured lights indicating risk value of moves is simply years ahead of anything else out there! A whole new concept in the field of chess tuition!!

I just got my ChessUp 2 board today. No problem connecting to the internet or Chess.com. However, the squares are not lighting up on startup (or any other time), so I cannot play.

I've updated the firmware and reset the board several times. No dice.

I have emailed support and am awaiting a reply. Assume I'm not the only one that will experience this issue. If someone figures out how to solve it, please let me know. Otherwise, I will update once I hear back from support.

I just got mine today. Exact same problem. It's charged and the firmware is updated. When I turn it on, the board doesn't light up and it doesn't recognize any pieces. I've sent an email to support. I don't remembering seeing an update from JMart, but I'll post a follow-up when I hear back.

Follow-up #1
I emailed on Saturday night at 7:30 PM CST. Within 10 minutes of emailing support, they had responded asking a few questions and for pictures/video of what the board was doing. Within 10 minutes of me responding with the video (9:30 PM on a Saturday), they had sent me an order confirmation and shipping label to return the faulty device. I'm hoping the faulty board was a fluke and not a sign of quality control, but I am impressed with the customer service response.

I'll post another update once I receive the replacement.

I received a replacement board, and it seemed to be working fine...until I had to move my king to c1. It occasionally reads the piece, but the vast majority of the time doesn't. I've also had a couple of lessons where I've had to reset because it won't register my move on other squares. Additionally, it has issues not registering moves during online play, so I've only played unrated. I want to love this board, but it's too buggy for me.

Sounds like this is the white king? if so some of the first batch had the same issue me being one of them. If you email the support email address and explain they will send you a replacement piece free of charge. Once you receive the new king it should work seamlessly.

Thanks. I contacted them and they've already responded. I have to say I've been impressed with their responsiveness. I went ahead and tested all of the pieces on the board editor. The king glitches on a several squares. Both white knights glitch but only on c1 & d4. That explains why I only hit it occasionally. It just dawned on me that I hadn't dropped off the return from the first board so I opened it back up. King and knights both act the same so I'm not sure if the sensors on those squares are "weak" or something. I'll see what they say.

Yes! Finally! Update 3.1.0 delivered exactly what I was hoping for-an evaluation setting. I used to notate my moves by hand, and while the board editor was helpful, I just couldn't improve as quickly with this method, and since Chess.com only has one free evaluation per day, my progress was hindered. But at last, this gives me something to look forward to in my future chess games! (I feel pathetic with an 850 ELO; I just finished a game where I completely missed a free queen blunderfrustrated)

Is there a way to configure a “Find Mate” slover with Chessup 2?

I honestly do not know, but I've been printing chess puzzles online, like "Checkmate In 1", etc., setting it up on Board Editor, and doing it there instead of the paper. You could also invest in buying a chess puzzle book and do it that way, but the printable stuff's free, so. *shrug*

Actually. I think I may have done it! Not sure if it works alll the time. Will post after more experimentation! Thanks, so far.

Is it possible to use the chess.com _Game Review_ function on the ChessUp 2?

This was my first time attempting to play a game on Chess.com after update 3.1. It wouldn't find a match, it was just flashing 10 min, starting soon, forever (I was trying to play a 10 minute game). I tried turning the board off, playing a bot then chess.com, nothing would work.

Playing a bot on the ChessUp2 does work though. Any tips?

The fear of this happening is why I cancelled my chessup2 order. I am an old non tech savvy guy and unless I have confidence the board will work as represented I will avoid purchasing.

I have had the same issue of not being able to get an opponent on Chess.com. Very frustrating.

A friend told me that the vehicle Range Rover was in the past terrible. All sorts of problems but they had fantastic customer service that made you feel special when you contacted them for assistance. I suspect Chessup2 may be guilty of such a business model.
