It possible you need to install Chessbase on MacOS via Qwine then You can install the driver of DGT. But I am not sure if they work 100%. I did on Ubuntu but is laggy. I think use your Android Phone with Android 5 or greater and Install the APK Chess for Android. And connect the board via Bluetooth or USB by USB-Type C Adapter to MicroUSB to connect the board to the phone and play with the computer.

Hi,

Do you have a link to a compatible chess base on Mac Osx

BlushingMinute

I tried to download DGTnix but it comes up with a bunch of files

Hi, @buchd thanks for your comments on this thread,

'gtunix driver to communicate with the board. From their I'm having a kind of Posix driver that can be used by other software such as ScidcsMac.' Iv tried rabbit plugin but it didnt work for me

I always recommend to try using virtual machine to run Windows 10 on the Mac. That way Chessbase and DGT can run on its native OS. No fuss. No muss.

Does anyone know if you can connect your DGT BT board with your iphone and play on the chess.com app, engines, etc.? Haven’t found anything on that yet.

Thank you

Br

DGT boards do not work natively on any OS or mobile without a third party driver.

@esistar I haven't tried to connect my DGT to my iPhone.  When the DGT board connects (bluetooth or USB) to Mac, Windows or Linux it appears as a serial connection (no driver needed).  All that's needed is a software that communicated with the board and a chess GUI and/or chess engine.

I work on a project called Picochess.  This works on Mac, Linux and Windows.

What I meant was that I have not used or read of any existing app that recognizes the DGT board connected via USB or Bluetooth.

@chessroboto agree... software is needed that supports the DGT board.  It doesn't just magically worth with a chess GUI or engine.

Hey, I also need help with my DGT e-board on my mac, I only have Livechess and it doesn't work. It would be great if you can help me! happy.png

I’d buy a DGT board straight away if DGT supported it for Mac OS X. And they were in stock in the UK. They’re missing out on business me thinks.

Kevin, I'm the same: "I’d buy a DGT board straight away if DGT supported it for Mac OS X"--I'm posting this just to see anyone knows of anything new out there since your post : )

FWIW, I just got a new Bluetooth DGT e-board and using nothing other than a download of DGT LiveChess was able to connect to the board via Bluetooth from my 2014 MBP (running Mojave) and retrieve a couple recorded games.

Can you write more about it? Does DGT board connects to macOS through bluetooth, even though DGT still oficially does not support Apple's OS?

DaysOfBlunder

Correct. Here's my situation:

- Running "Mojave" on a Late-2014 MacBook Pro.

- Installed DGT LiveChess 2.2.5 from the DGT LiveChess website.

- Made sure Bluetooth was enabled on my Mac.

- Turned on the DGT board.

- My Mac and board connected.

There have been times where trying to re-connect it wouldn't (after having connected previously), but then I just delete the connection in the Bluetooth management screen and then try turning the board back on again. It usually picks up.

I didn't install anything else or anything custom. No additional drivers or software were used.

Of course, your mileage my vary, as I can only speak for my situation, but I'd be surprised if other Mac users (at least recent ones) haven't had similar success.

Hope this helps.

Are you able to also play at Chess.com with the DGT board and mac?

DaysOfBlunder

Yes, though I will say the integration with chess.com is not very good. I've yet to play a full game without chess.com eventually stopping to register moves. It's happened anywhere from move 5 to move 25 (and I'm sure it could happen at any point). I've seen more than a few threads on this forum imploring chess.com to fix it as it's been like this for some time.

On the other hand, I've had zero problems with lichess.org and its integration with DGT. Sure, there's an extra step or two, but it's nothing too difficult. The only potential issue is takebacks, although if worse comes to worse, you can refresh the tab with the DGT integration running and it syncs back up.

There's a DGT Pegasus User Group on chess.com now. Check it and maybe join for helpful info in one place:
