Made two own chess-sets - one real and one virtual!

Had the opportunity to make my first chess-set in my job with kids from 6 to 12 years. That´s the reason why for example the pawns are a bit different and akward wink.png But it was fun for the kids and me!

And, after some hard work on the pc, I was able to make a 3D Chess-Set. Especially the Knight was a bit of a challenge. I also made something out of it as the winning pictures for my first own chess.com tournament:

what do you think about these two chess-sets?

Nice job! Did they take long to make?

Thanks! Oh, the "real" one took me years! Made the first half of the set and, nobody knows why, one day everything was gone (somebody threw it away or so) and then it took me again a long time, because I did it with the kids and there is few time for such things.

The virtual one took me something like two month, especially the knight was really a big thing to do. Im just a beginner in 3d.

But later on I made this:

Very nice. Did you turn them on a lathe.

All look fabulous! In the physical set, that the pawns look different from one another gives it "personality", I reckon. grin.png

sorry, first I did not find that word.

Yes, with a lathe! We have a good one in my job and the kids love it to learn how to use it.

Yes - I agree, there’s a certain charm and personality to the physical pieces …. the wonky cross on the king, the little knight, the variations in pieces  … I hope you enjoyed making it and playing with it, with your kids. 👍

I do! And some are not that bad in the game of the Kings.

Wits-end

Here’s what makes them special, you made memories together! I hope for many years and countless battles with the youngsters. Kudos!

archaja

Yeah, lot´s of memories after 30 years of work with them!
