The youngest American grandmaster is Hikaru Namamura, who earned the title at the age of 15 years, 2 months. The youngest female grandmaster is Koneru Humpy, who became a grandmaster at the age of 15 years, 1 month, and 27 days.

    Nice post, skarthi4you! Didn't Sanan Sjugiov become a grandmaster before 15? I'm pretty sure he's the youngest/highest ranked player in the world. He's like 16 or 17 now, and beat Carlsen this year! In fact Carlsen may have to deal with him in years to comeWink
