New Chess Hall Of Fame Opens

I met Ben Finegold at a tournament once. He was funny.

I believe they have the same connection they had when the museum was in Florida, though I could be wrong.

One thing that I do want to add here is that it is important to maintain the heritage of Chess. When one considers for example the Silver set awarded to Paul Morphy we are going back 150 years in history. I think the fact that these artifacts were bought back for display and are now in the Chess Hall Of Fame Is terrific ! This did not happen in a vaccum however as it took money plus a lot of work to achieve. The Hall Of Fame was of course located some years in Florida but the main supporters there ran into financial difficulties. Thank Goodness that there were people in St.Louis who were willing ( and able ) to step forward and support this important project. 

The World Chess Hall of Fame is an incredible, 15,900-square-foot masterpiece of a building that houses rotating exhibits on the first and second floors and the permanent home of the U.S. and World Chess Halls of Fame on the third floor. The third floor will rotate out items from the permanent collection of the Halls of Fame, so there is always something new to see there. The building is located in the Central West End, a beautiful neighborhood about 10 minutes west of downtown, and it features boutique shops, great restaurants, sidewalk dining, and is adjacent to Forest Park, a beautiful 1,300 acre green space that features the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Science Center and the Saint Louis Zoo (very nearby), all of which are free to visit. I highly recommend paying the WCHOF, the Chess Club and Forest Park a visit. It will undoubtedly change your perception of our beautiful city!

I have just been going thru the April 2012 issue of " Chess Life " and they had some info on a exhibition at the Hall Of Fame. From now to August 12th of this year they have Memorabilia, Archives and Photos featuring items from the late Bobby Fischer ( as a part of their rotating display series ).

Isaac and I went there yesterday. They had an art exhibit, a photograph exhibit, and an area that featured objects/articles about Bobby Fischer. Here are a couple of pictures.

What's the story on that chessboard? It appears to be set up correctly?

We only noticed one board in the gift shop that wasn't set up correctly.

Did you give that person a ride to Boston? Are there a lot of people downtown asking for a ride?
