Shouldn't you shoot for 1st place and be satisfied with 3rd or 4th place?

Lets see some bravado as you take apart the league.

i was being funny, cause it's kind of empty when ppl say they are shooting for first place, right? your mind kind of blanks out when you read those same words again and again. we're giving our best. we're aiming for #1.

plus, realistically, we usually lose in the semifinals to miami, i think. we only won the league one year. so 3-4th seems fair :)

Well as long as you play the King's Gambit every game, even against c5 :) then all will be well.

dpruess

just to help my opponents prepare: i *will* play the king's gambit against anyone who plays e5. bring it!

(very strong feeling that it won't be brought)

David,

My loyalties are under pressure now that I live in St. Louis, but for now I will still pull for the Mechanics against the Arch Bishops (which, you must admit, is far and away the best team name in the league).

i'll definitely concede that we have the worst name!

yeah, i like arch bishops, and it's awesome that you are there to see them. st louis!! next thing i hope to see from there is the presence of these great players inspiring some fans and growth in tournament attendance in the area.

Sounds like the Mechanics have aspirations of mediocrity.  How about renaming the team to the SF GoodNuffs?

Now that's the right attitude.  I can forgive other IM's for not bringing it against you with e5 but if you play a GM they should have the stones.  As a GM they should be thinking: I KNOW it's your best opening, that you love and study and are really good at.  But guess what?  I am so good I will play it and still crush you like a gnat.  Boom!

Now we'll have a game worth watching.  Wink

i wish :) but we shall see...
