Will Anand Consider Retirement?

Anand should just replace Bruce Willis in the Die Hard series. The next episode can be titled "Die Hard with a forking knight".

The only reason for Anand to retire is if he wants too. Not being nr. 1 or having a shot at the title doesnt mean he needs to retire. He is still either nr 2 or very close to it in the ratings, so why quit? Nakamura will never beat Carlsen in a match either, and almost certainly not Aronian either, but no one is suggesting they retire.

These guys play chess cause they want too, and very few of even the top player has a shot to become wc. They still play, and losing title matches is very lucrative too. Anand made alot of money from his matches with Carlsen

A better argument for Anand not retiring is Kramnik. Aronian and Nakamura will likely never beat Carlsen in a match, this is true. But 'they' have also never been world champion, Anand and Kramnik have scaled the heights. Obviously Anand should not retire if he doesn't want to, but again, few people would like to see Carlsen - Anand 3. Anand has won only 1 game in the last 3 world championships [in 'normal' time]. He has the money, and a family. Aronian and Nakamura are not at 'his' stage of life. I say ......... play on, but then I'm selfish and just want to see good chess played, and Anand can ofcourse still do that.
