Sorry if I'm being rude but if I'm not mistaking david was a staff, but now he is a mod. He's in the staff club which is proof he was staff. Did he resign, or was he demoted?

Again sorry if I'm sounding rude.

@david

Maybe

I haven't actually been staff - as in, paid staff - since a stint on the Fair Play team a few years ago; Chess.com was happy for me to keep the staff tools for awhile to help out the wider moderator team, but we reached the end of that and I took an extended break. I'm just a regular blue pawn moderator now 😎

Earlier I thought David is one of the top chess.com staffs...

It's a sad, sad, nearly Dickensian tale of woe and misery.

Really? I'd be happy if David got swallowed up by a saltwater crocodile and was never heard from again.

One big difference between you an me is that I'm in a better position to realize the incredible amount of time and energy @david has devoted over the years to making this site a better, smoother, safer and less toxic environment for the members, most of whom pretty much take this all for granted.

Roaming_Rooster

Thankfully this isn’t twitter where people get upset for the dumbest reasons. If this was Twitter their would be a riots near Erik’s home.

Roaming_Rooster

Darn you got me

@david

No big deal - same boss, same salary and a different title. Basically the same he has always been.

Unlike Urk, I'm sure Erik's bank account shows proper appreciation for all of David's free labor.

/sarcasm

Personally I don't find altruism a vice.  The work isn't to enrich anyone but to help keep this place somewhat worthwhile.

or basically both, but I would not use the word enrich.
