I started playing chess at 18. Is it too late for me to become world chess champion?

2 Psychics are playing a game of chess...
They look at the board and then firmly shake their hands and nod and say “Good Game!”

Ha! I was just reading his Wikipedia entry and found this little nugget:

His autobiography is entitled Take My Life, Please!

Under 1200 rapid, under 1100 blitz, under 1300 bullet. Become the world champion are you having a laugh? 😂 If you even become an intermediate level player you should be delighted.

Here we see the play of an imbecile, not a world champion. Not a GM. Not an IM. Not a FM. Not a strong amateur. Not an intermediate amateur. Just an imbecile.

Everyone starts somewhere and that play would be pretty good for someone just starting off. However, he has thousands of games played and yet he still blunders pieces. Obvious troll

That's because I only played bullet games. I never did any lessons back then.

Obvious troll everyone stop responding. Hereunto, I will stop responding to this thread.

I'm 21.

Already 3 years and 1000+ rating. The realistic aim you should do is the champion in your local club ( in small town.).

Otherwise, find someone else to treat " your high".

He is not trolling. He is rolling.wink.png

Just wondering because this is one of my goals in life. I haven't been taking chess seriously, and I plan to take it very seriously soon.

I'm just wondering when "soon" might be.

Yes, three years of not taking any lessons. I've just started taking lessons.

You don't really sound like a winner to me when you have an account here since 2011, and you are rated lower. How do you know?

Do you aim to compete Jeff Benzo when you get your first pay?

Do you aim to run faster than Usain Bolt when you did your first run?

Just would like to know "how do you set your life goals".

What these people are basically telling you to drop your current life. Any friendships, any hobbies, any romances, any jobs, etc. Focus purely on chess. Become a lifeless, passionate zombie that only has one thing in mind. Completely ruin your life and focus only on becoming what you want. Spend every penny you have on purchasing and studying books and guides and coaches for chess.
