GG also stands for Get Good, man - you should have resigned 34 moves ago.

I think better than "ggs" would be "thanks". I hear a lot of strong players say that, I don't know why.

Why waste finger energy typing 'gg' or 'good game' ?

It's not always about you Boy. Sometime you need to think of the other person.

I often type "gg" after a game. And if I play multiple games with an opponent I usually say something like "Thanks for the games" at the end unless they were being rude.

Typing 'gg' after you win rubs salt into the opponents injured pride.  Typing "yb'  or 'nr' maybe more meaningful: 'you blundered' and 'never resign'.

Hi I just played a game and blundered due to a miss tap on my screen so I sent a good game msg and resigned. I got a warning from the stytem not to waste time and I might be restricted if I do it again!!! Anyone had similar?

i think you should refer to the link provided on the previous page for an appropriate response.

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that on v3 nobody ever has the courtesy to say (text) "good game" or even gg anymore? Is it because "focus mode" doesn't support it or is it because people are using machines (engines) and think no human interaction is necessary? If you are going to beat me anyway, at least have some sportsmanship and say thanks. Sheesh.

I dont say gg if it wasnt good, but I often do. Sometimes I am slightly exhausted and silent, and doesnt have the energy to be polite, I often hit computeranalyse as fast as I can, and then go back to the board and write gg, but then my opponent often has left. I want to start analysis before starting next game, and have analyse running when playing the next.

I think real chess players want to play chess and chatting just get at their nerves. They think only patzers do chat, strong players just play and move on. They don't care if it was a good game or not.

It was good when they didn't make a mistake, they know that, so why saying "good game"? Maybe they disagree because they made a mistake and know it was a bad game. And when a patzer says: "Good game" not understanding that it was full of mistakes, they just ignore this nonsense talk and move on. They are here to play and not to chat. Strong players don't chat, they play. Only patzers do chat. That's my experience.

if the other plays a good game and i lose i may say good game. but a few number on here get upset having lost so i dont say good game if they lost as it is like rubbing salt in a wound.

Face to face is much easier to be polite.   I usually type 'gg'.  However, sometimes I'm just lazy and want to go.  But, since you pointed this out I'll try harder to be polite every time.  Even though I often feel this is a stupid game (when I lose).. grin

I would like my opponent to say gg if I really played a good game(as per our level), otherwise, I will forget the event soon.
