He probably just plays for fun, with no desire for improving. I made 1850 after a year and a half by learning from my mistakes and studying. He probably does none of this so he could play 1 million games and never improve because he will continue to make the same mistakes over and over.

Nah that's fine, you can give me as much of a hard time as you like 
When I say I learnt of the rules of the game, What I mean is that I was a complete beginner. I have vaguely known the rules of chess my whole life but I only started really playing the game last year in March, a few weeks before I made my chess.com account. By the time I was playing online I was already sort-of interested in chess, I would have known the special rules and basic mates but nothing else.
