Solving 10,000 puzzles is not difficult… just time consuming.

Yup. I’ve done less than 8,000 puzzles and only a bit over half were correct.

do you guys seriously use light mode LOL

For someone who’s been actively reading books for 60 years, light mode is a much more sensible and natural option. Those of you who have spent a decade or more playing video games while adults sleep naturally have a different preference.

In other words, in this thread on achievements, you brought in a stupid off-topic distraction that amounted to no more than mild criticism of your superiors. Had you been a reader, you would have had a better knowledge base for coming up with a good user name.

@Ziryab, No offense, but that was a little bit of a failed attempt at satire. Also, studies have proven that dark mode can help protect the eyes when being used for long amounts of time. You also cannot just assume that someone prefers dark theme over light theme for playing video games while their parents sleep (even if that is just an exaggeration for your satire).

ZaiFaLi

Although I must also respect your preference, however, it is just that I use dark mode because I'm used to it as default on my computer (meaning, when I signed up for chess.com it was already dark mode).

ZaiFaLi

And that you sort of pushed too far with trying to insult someone for a question.

At my rate, I need to solve 18,000 to get 10,000 correct. Certainly within the realm of possibility if I use this site’s puzzles regularly. In 14 years on this site, I attempted less than 5000. In the past three months, I’ve done over 3000. Even in the past three months, though, I’ve done more puzzles in books and iPad apps than here.

It’s not satire. Children need to be taught manners.

ZaiFaLi

How do you assume he is a child?

Maybe you don’t understand the science as well as you think.

a) believe it or not, I've never played a video game in my life. literally just ask any of my irl friends

b) so you're telling me someone over 60 is spending their time on a chess.com forum arguing? I mean, I'm not gonna judge but I think we all have better things to do with our time, so feel free to argue back but I'm not responding again

c) I don't see a major correlation between light mode and books but I'm not gonna judge as I don't really read, you could be correct

d) for what I know the reason some adults / elderly use light mode is because its default and they don't care to change it or don't know how, might not be for the majority though

e) you said this is "an off-topic distraction" when it took me 5 seconds to type that 1 message out of curiosity (fair, might've came off as a minor insult) and took you probably 5 minutes to argue back (this is also taking me 5mins LOL)

f) "your superiors" I understand you are likely older but 1. you have no proof and immediately assumed and 2. you're a random stranger in the internet, even if you're older, it doesn't mean I have to respect you more than I do, equal respect should exist when you don't know who's on the other side on the screen, and you kinda violated that but I don't care lmao

g) you say I brought in how this is a stupid off-topic distraction whilst 2 sentences later brought in one yourself, what has me not coming up with a good username got to deal with reading books

h) I don't know why but I feel like the whole paragraph might be a joke, didn't mean to further anger if it isn't lol

Apologies to 3rd parties offended, I will not be arguing back, apologies for disturbances caused, it was just a simple question, I'm sorry to all those annoyed at me. happy.png

I'm sorry, I promised not to argue back, but this is just really bugging me and

a) boldly assuming I'm a child

b) stating that if I'm a child I must respect some random guy I don't know on the internet because I'm older

Yes, I agree, children also need to have manners, for their parents, their elders, friends, teachers, etc... Not for some random person who claims to be older on the internet

So, you’re not a child? Okay.

If you have a legitimate question about why some people don’t use dark mode, ask it the way an adult would. Then, you’ll likely get an answer instead of a rebuke.

I am older than the internet. I was past my master’s degree when it expanded outside of narrow military use.

"Movie Star" achievement is the kind of hard because you have to watch 1,000 videos and TV junkie is also hard because you kinda need glasses and you need to watch it full day,but there is some tricks such as putting it on the screen and not doing anything with it,same as couch potato
