...only in loving memory to our beloved lion, Larry, with the golden heart 😢🥺

If someone wants to create a chess tournament out of respect--let him.
I would not do this but different people have different ways to show respect.. Please do not denegrate others because their culture is a little bit different

it's not culture.
It's just flat out disrespect and shallow. The fact that people are ok with this shows how low u guys have gone to get some attention.

I would love anyone of you to straight out share how you find it to be disrespectful to Larry who daily loved everyone here and enjoying his chess! How you find that he wouldn’t agree, be tickled to be so thought of and lovingly honored such as on the chess site he daily so enjoyed . W t f ?
All of the great chess players have memorial tournaments dedicated to their memory. It is not disrespectful to have a tournament in his name.

I can’t believe there’s individuals here that think having a tourney in memory with respect to Larry, who daily enjoyed the site, how some find that disrespectful! Unreal
I bet even his family would entirely appreciate such admiration shown to him!
it’s unreal, Sonia, and couple others thinking it’s immoral
the dude loved the site and would be totally tickled such a tribute to him!
Vibhansh_Alok:
When Coach bill’s news came...I was devastated. I thought of leaving chess.com
i was in no mood of playing chess that time
then unexpectedly a message came to me that a guy was inviting me to join a tournament in the loving memories of coach bill
That time I was angry too... like “what do you guys do, always seek a reason for making tournament? Don’t even think if it’s a good reason or not”
so that time I was angry too
now I understand that it’s also a way to give tourney
but, still I see tournaments as a fun thing and Larry was my first friend here. I have no words
Some people perceive it as a good way as It’s true that Larry loved chess
TheBestBeer_Root:
That is exactly correct
seriously Just now
and.... think were it you.. or anyone else, how you or they of course also would be delighted to find such took place for them. Who’s to say he absolutely has not seen everyone showing their respect to him, in the wonderful pearly gates he now resides?

Do whatever you want.
But I'm gonna say you have no morals, and have to post about some guy thats died and promote a tournament instead of letting them rest in peace.
i agree

His own family knows quite well that this place was his happy comfort, and you’re telling me a tribute to him is out of place??? You must be kidding👀

^
This is just a post taking advantage of the drama.
If you want to tribute Larry talk about him, or post about one of his wins, or post about his content.
Why are u making a tournament and promoting a club under the guise of a "honouring the dead" post.
there's so many ways to respectfully tribute someone, this isn't it chief.
