Haha yes That's good to know. Keep it up

I think you will find a new wave of not very good players who would really like to chat during games.

Yeah a lot of my friends joined after watching it. I Had tried convincing them to play chess and at least try it out once. But they were reluctant and told me that chess is a game that can't be enjoyed and its only for the boring nerds.

Great topic @Melenda2. First of all welcome to all our new members who joined us thanks to the Netflix serie 'The Queens Gambit'. You know what? We've got a surprise for all our Beth Harmon fans, you can now play against her at different ages and stages of her chess career. Check out this article https://www.chess.com/news/view/play-beth-harmon and make sure you hit the orange button to play against her.

The game is not very fun if you simply get frustrated.

The series is great. I am starting episode 4 later. Beth Harmon seems a lot more together as a character than Bobby Fisher was. Maybe her chess prodigy level was based on him but he was more out there than she is presented, I think. There is a bio pic on fisher with Toby McGuire from a few years ago and he is portrayed as a real anti-social guy.

True. But saying that its a game just for the nerds isn't correct as well.
Depends on how you define nerds.
There are lots of kinds of nerds. Certain activities get classified as nerd activities. Being part of the band and playing chess are two such activities.

Melenda2, thanks for the question. I am one. I played a lot of chess in college -- and we followed Fisher's games in the newspaper daily -- but have played not so much since then.
I skipped through most of the beginning, 'til she was playing in the basement. Got just enough of a view of the board to recognise the scholar's mate setup. That's when I got excited. Best ending ever where she 'took' the king.
So here I am, and happy to be here.
