Well done. I managed to get to 1400 a few days ago, and then promptly slipped back down into the 12's.... Managed to inch my way back to 1400 again over the last day or two. Not sure it's helping my games yet though!

I am glad with you for your successes, friends! Personally, studying the lessons helped me to improve my level. It essentially shows the basic techniques that are used in puzzles, which were taken from the practice of playing chess masters.

Congrats!!
I just hit 2800 this week too. The trick to getting a high puzzle rating is to spend a long time on each problem (I've spent as long as 45 mins on some puzzles). You'll always get at least +5 rating points if you get the correct answer, no matter how long it takes you.

The frustrating thing is taking 30 minutes to solve 3 really hard puzzles and getting only +5 points on each of them, only to mess up an easy one and lose like 20 points

I'm sure I lost points on one that I got right a few days ago, but only after a long time. Perhaps I was mistaken.

I only lose 12 points max if I get a puzzle wrong, and usually less than that. So getting a 70% success rate will almost always increase my rating.
Maybe your puzzle rating is provisional?

Thanx for the trick! I always tried to do them fast because they penalize you for taking your time. But from now on as per your advice I will take my time. I think you learn more anyway when you take the time to analyze the puzzle.

Congrats!!

I've done a good number of puzzles so I doubt my current rating is provisional.

Since a last few days I have adopted a new approach to do the puzzles. If I see that a puzzle is quite time consuming....I take a screenshot of it. And then I press the back button without trying to solve it . And again if I get a puzzle am not able to solve....I take a screenshot and click the back button. I attempt a puzzle only when am 100 percent sure about the solution. Since am not a premium member , I get to do only 5 puzzles a day. So those 5 are very precious and I don't want to waste them by not increasing my rating. Later in the day I try to solve the puzzles that I captured in the screenshots.. or get the answer from an engine. I try to remember them so that when I face a similar one in future I would have no trouble.
Today I Achieved Puzzle Rating 1400
