This is a great book by Irving Chernev a 1000 of the very best minature games of the 19th and 20th century (up until 1953) all of them are a joy to go over.

This book can be read for pure entertainment and for instuction it has many, many tricks traps and tactical shots that you can add to your mental repetoire to kill your opponents in cold blood very fast.

If your a beginner and intermediate I recommend replaying this book over many times along with solving lots of tactics and combinations mates you will improve your game.

The book is in descriptive notation.

If I only had one chess book, this would be it.  It's so entertaining, and if I ever get to game 1000, I resolve to start over at the beginning.  The problem is my copy will probably disintegrate by then.  The last printing was 1955 (the year I started kindergarten) but there are copies on Amazon for about 32 dead presidents.  Hopefully, when I need a replacement it won't be priced beyond my means.
