Here's some pictures of the 1950 Dubrovnik Olympiad Chess Set made by ChessBazaar.  Set is in Boxwood and Sheeshamwood aka Golden Rosewood. Kings measure 3.6" in height.  The Knights don't match up to the Noj Ltd Knights, but for $119 USD including shipping still a very nice set.

How is the weight and feel of these pieces? Any pics of them on a board?

I've purchased through chessbazaar before, and really like their quality, so I'm definitely thinking about their Dubrovnik set.

Collector that you are, will you be adding the newly available crimson to your collection as well?

As a matter of fact I will. Although the Knights could be improved, I still like the set. Well proportined pieces and a pleasing set to play with. And, as I said before, you can't beat the price

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your chess set!

For $119 looks like a good set, just need to improve the knights in order to achieve a most accurate reproduction.

Your welcome. Agreed, the Knight could be improved on. I'm sure the "other" Indian makers will enter the market with their Dubrovnik versions and its just a matter of time before we see a set with a  nicer Dubrovnik Knight.

Very good quality. The set weighs 45 oz. according to the ChessBazaar website. Pieces have a good feel.  I think a board with 2" squares would be just right. I'll try to get some pictures up on a 2" board.

Looks great Mike.! I am not a Knight afficianado But, those knights are good to go. Do the weights protrude from the bottoms making the pieces look warped.? I had this problem from a couple sets from Chess Cafe but, they fixed the problem for free & I didn't spend a dime getting it fixed on their International sets. Thanks for the great pics..!

Hi Frank! No problems at all with protruding weights. Pieces lay flush on the board. A well made set with balanced and proportioned pieces. I just wish they could have done a little better on the Knight carvings.

Here's a pic on a board with 2 1/8" squares.

Nice looking set, but 2 inch squares are definately too small for the set. They look very crowded. Probably start with 2.25 and see how it looks.

Your probably right. Anyway, I think 2 1/8" might also work

Yep... 2 inch square looks crowded. I think 2 1/4 inch square would be just fine for this set. How long did it take shipping.?
