1974 Olympiad Lardy set 4" Kings

Hi All- I believe this to be the '74 Olympiad set. Based on a pic of Chuck's from the link below. It doesn't have the box but came in a rather curious real white rabbit fur pouch (OUCH!) . Looks perfect on my vintage Drueke #65 Play-a-way board IMHO happy.png  Thanks for looking -Ronbo  https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/displaying-my-lardy-collection    nullnullnull

Nice. We obviously have similar taste in sets. I have a 3 3/4 lardy that looks fairly similar although the knights are a bit smaller in proportion to the rest of the set. Love the natural finish and lack of horrible shiny lacquer that was sometimes applied to these older sets.

Very nice set, Ron! It fits perfectly with your Drueke (I love those).:-)

I find it fascinating how similar these Lardys and the Chavets look. Where they from the same producer? I always thought that wasn't the case. Simply both from France. But this similiarity made me wonder...

Dankeschön Chuck! ;-) It was very interesting indeed! I didn't even know about the other producers like Michel Roz.

@bananamoon: Thanks, that helped!;-)

Interesting. The article does not mention Edmund Dujardin. I thought they were a jura turner but perhaps they were only a reseller for Lardy or Chavet?

A great set paired with a great board!

UpcountryRain

A Lardy on a Drueke. Can't go wrong.

So how heavily weighted is this set?  Thanks.  Or is it weighted?

Hi Mike - When I get home I'll get it out and weigh it. Thanks -Ron

Thanks, Ron.  It's a lovely set!

A Lardy set without the typical lacquer finish, very nice.

It's very interesting chess set. But does somebody know, how much is it worth? I can't see it's value because I don't have a premium account on worthpoint.

A friend of mine gave me the same Lardy Set. I don't play with it since it is something that is hard to replace.

paretobox

That is my favorite Lardy set.  Is there any chance someone is working to make an exact copy of it instead of the rather inelegant Lardy inspired sets on the market?
