Haha! That's a good one. I was never too much into David Bowie's music. I believe the one song I have from him is Under Pressure.

And that was a collaboration with Queen - great song.

Just think you could - hangout - in your own telephone box & play chess with strangers  wink.png

09/21/21 UPDATE:

House of Staunton 2021 Sinquefield Cup Player's Edition is back in stock $495 (limited to 50)

House of Staunton 2021 Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz Player's Edition is back in stock $495 (limited to 50)

Using a readily available 15% off coupon will get the price down to $420.75. And also remember the set comes with a HoS Premium chess box valued at $100. So the chess set price is theoretically $320.75 (free shipping).

Which is still a premium price over the reproductions of varying quality.

You get the U.S. based, HoS customer service if there are issues. And you get the peace of mind knowing that the original company and creator behind the design of the distinctive mohawk knight is compensated.

Can you all tell I'm trying to rationalize this possible future purchase in my head? LOL

I'm guessing the manufacturer was under pressure to finish the 100+ set order at the conclusion of the Sinquefield Tournament. But they could only finish a portion of the order. Sending what they could 3 weeks ago. And the remainder arriving just recently.

In hindsight, I was pretty surprised that the sets sold out so quickly. It makes sense that they only sold out of the initial shipment. With the remainder of the sets on the way.

I forgot the inside is felted on all surfaces, so I don't think it would be a good idea.  I think I'll do it on the bottom.  There are "feet" that raise the box and it's enough to not interfere with the plaque.

That's a good way. I believe Jaques placed the label on the inside of the lid. I think even HoS suggested this for their sets with a plaque and felted box, but I could never understand how a plaque with double-sided tape could stick to the felt.

Interesting, I'll have to take a look.  The plaque is made by 3M, so I'm sure it will adhere well.  I would prefer it actually.

@Pawnerai so you bought it then? If not I doubt your sincerity that you "missed out" resign.png
